A gem

The Garden Retreat center was perfect for our all girls’ winter get away. The center was quiet. Everyone we met was very nice and helpful. The apartment is spacious and well stocked for meal prep and cooking. The grounds allowed us to do some cross-country skiing.

Unique experience!

We stayed only two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The apartment was roomy, very clean and so comfortable. We could access the retreat center to enjoy the bakery cafe, the common room and the breakfast dining room. We walked the trails, walked to the play ground, and art store. We traveled the short distance to Fayette State Park and took in the history of the area and beauty of Lake Michigan. I hope we can visit again!

Peaceful and relaxing visit to the UP. The cabin is well stocked and spacious with gorgeous views of the golf course and deer visits in the morning.

WOW- great stay in Garden!!!!

We were so impressed with our room. We had the 3 bedroom 2 bath with kitchen and loved the location and the set up of our little suite. Our location was fantastic to our friends who live less than a mile away. The communication prior to our trip was excellent and the breakfast (continental) was perfect. We spent 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We did not have time to walk the grounds but everyone we met said it is beautiful. We will be back!!! Out of 5 stars, we give 10 stars!!!! Thank you!

Living room and dining room are large. Kitchen is well-stocked with utensils and pans -- all that I needed for food prep. When I had questions, communication with the manager was easy.

The location was comfortable, convenient, and very clean! The wifi stopped working on our first night but was fine on the second night. The kitchen needs some more supplies but we were able to make it work. Thank you for the great stay!

Hiawarha Forest

We enjoyed our stay here as the unit was nice and clean when we arrived. The putdoor area of the retreat was also beautiful and had plenty of areas to explore. The property is located about 1.5 hpurs from Pictured Rocks, which was beautiful. We would definitely come back here again!

Spacious and great location

We enjoyed staying at Nicole’s place, very spacious and great location. It is very close to our favorite restaurant “Dock’s Bar and Grill”. The only thing I would recommend is to make this place more homey. Overall, we had good experience.

He owns several other properties in the U.P. and is excited to keep this unique property available for guest enjoyment. I'm the Property Manager and host, and a U.P. native local to the unit. A team of local house and groundskeepers work together to make this property a must-stay gem.

Why they chose this property

The owner is a former architect with an appreciation for amazing old buildings and has added Garden Grove Retreat & Lodging, including the Garden Grove Townhome, to his impressive collection of Upper Peninsula properties. Our group of locals is honored to care for the facility and continue hosting individuals and groups on the beautiful Garden Peninsula.
