Very clean and well thought out with beach amenities and a fully stocked kitchen. We were very comfortable and found all check in and out directions easy to follow.
Nice cozy layout for our family of 3. Convenient location 2 blocks from downtown Hilo and Farmers Market. We walked down to Booch Bar for breakfast and Pineapples for dinner. 5 minutes to Coconut Island. 10 minutes to Richardson and Carlsmith. Simone was a pleasure to work with. We had a great time.
Clean and inviting. Greeted with a bowl of welcome snacks to start the stay which we enjoyed! Essentials provided including a rice cooker for the times you wanna stay in and create your own meal. Owners took great thought into considering small details. E.g. ear plugs to help block out the sound of nature if it's not something you find yourself falling asleep too. Overall, the place was comfortable. A home away from home.
We walked to downtown for drinks and dinner, very convenient. The amazing farmers market is also minutes away. The host’s little gifts upon our arrival were a nice touch. We had a wonderful stay
Nicely appointed unit in a convenient location to getting into town for food/drink. Clear communication throughout the process. Would definitely stay here again!
A great property right in the heart of Hilo. Easy to walk to local shops and restaurants. Easy to find, very clean, and the owners were fantastic to work with. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We were there for Merrie Monarch and wanted somewhere within walking distance to things in Hilo Town. The location is ideal and the neighborhood felt safe. I wouldn't walk alone at night to town but it was otherwise fine in groups. It was very clean. The two primary things to consider if deciding to stay - (1) the stairs were hard to navigate every day for not only my elderly parents but also for me with my bad knee. Thankfully we could all still sleep upstairs in the bedrooms because there was a half bathroom upstairs in terms of getting up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. The shower is downstairs. Because of this we would not stay here again. But, if you are healthy and have no problem with stairs, it is a fantastic unit. (2) some of the windows have only a sheer curtain covering and we were uncomfortable with people being able to look straight in so we used a bunch of towels to tape up over those windows. But if that doesn't bother you, it's totally fine. (3) in the main bathroom/shower downstairs, there is a weird mini slope from where the sink is to the toilet and shower. I tripped on it multiple times before finally remembering it was there. (4) a couple of the ceiling fans were hard to either turn on or off the light or fan (i.e. if you wanted the fan on but the light off or vice versa).Overall, a great property for the right visitor. Not for us but probably fantastic for many others.
Quaint property and is accurately represented in the listing. All communication with host was great. Appreciated the goodies left for us to enjoy during our visit. The only feedback is for the listing to be updated that the washer/dryer is not in the actual unit and there are certain hours when it can be utilized.
Newly renovated, clean with most required appliances, great location, and responsive owners. Nothing fancy but allowed our family to stay together. We look forward to staying there again.
We had a great time in Hilo and the central location to all our activities made this place a great choice for our family! It's an easy walk to a lot of restaurants and shops, and a short drive to a number of Big Island sites like Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls State Park.
Check-in/out was easy and the hosts were responsive when we had questions (the laundry wasn't immediately visible but it was easy to find once we got the host's note).
This property is very charming and cozy. We (couple) stayed for three nights and simply loved the atmosphere. Every single detail, from decoration to amenities really well thought of. Parking is right in front of the unit, which makes easy loading and unloading. Property is located walking distance from restaurants and farmers market. Highly recommended.
The property was well cared for and comfortable. It was well equipped for cooking and conveniently located to both markets and restaurants. If you wish a nice getaway in the heart of Hilo, it is worth considering this property.
The Rainbow Loft is a hidden gem in Hilo! Very close to downtown Hilo, Rainbow Falls and other trails. We appreciated how clean the place was, as well as the wonderful amenities (washer/dryer, luggage racks, coffee, etc.). It is within walking distance to local businesses, though we felt more comfortable driving.
Thank you Steven for a wonderful stay!
We enjoyed the stay. The gifts of cookies, coffee and honey were yummy. Everything was great except the view was not too good. Also, the walls were thin and we could here the neighbors walking up and down the stairs late at night.
This rental is perfect for two couples who want to spend time in and around Hilo. Easy walking to downtown restaurants, shopping and market. The apartment is comfy and plenty roomy for four people, and comes with all you are likely to need. Very satisfied.
Very few options like this right in Hilo, so very happy that they are on VRBO.
Plenty of room for our group of 6. Well equipped with everything we needed. Extras like cooler and beach towels were appreciated, Even an extra toothbrush when my luggage was delayed! Treats like coffee, cookies and honey were an extra special unexpected treat. Thanks!
On a whim we decided to fly to the Big Island and avoid the crowds and get a little hometown feel in Hilo. We missed the volcano eruption by just two days but that was the only disappointment for the trip. Our accommodations were perfect - exactly as described and photo’d. The welcome treat and coffee was a very nice touch. This was a perfect location to spend a day at Hawaii Volcano Ntl Park and another day driving around the island. The rest of the time we parked the car and walked the town a d enjoyed great restaurants, farmers markets and the locals. Don’t stay anywhere else in Hilo - you wi t be disappointed with Simone’s Over The Rainbow!
