About this property

Secluded with Views: Wine Country Retreat...

Hello, and welcome to Sonoma and the Sonoma Wine Valley…

For years we sought a place that would rejuvenate our souls by making us feel far away, while still being close to the activities that we enjoy: our love of wine, food and life in all its forms…

Today we are living that dream and we welcome you into our home: 'Vie du Reve' (living the dream).

Our 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms home is located in the secluded hills of Sonoma, but just 8 minutes from the historic Plaza. It's really ideally suited for 3 couples who enjoy vacationing together... From the minute you walk in the door, the view will draw your eyes to the nature that surrounds the property and the peace and quiet that engulfs you. You’ll immediately feel like you’re in your own private tree house and your workday woes will begin to fade away. You enter the house on the main floor that has the living room, kitchen, dining area, half-bath and “top deck,” which is ideal for morning coffee and evening appetizers. Walk down one floor to the middle level that has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. Walk down another floor to the entertainment room on the lower level (great for extended visits when there is more time to enjoy a movie or watch a sporting event).

In addition to the “top deck,' there are decks off the master bedroom, the front and back of the house (four decks total). As the sun moves through the day, you can find sun or shade, whatever fits your wishes… In the summer of 2015 we replaced the lower deck, so please view pictures of the new addition. Remember that nights can get chilly when the sun goes down, so pack that favorite sweater.

While we are minutes from the historic Sonoma Plaza, you won’t feel it or hear it… YOU are now on vacation!!

In our view a good night’s rest is the centerpiece to a pleasurable vacation. Beds are all new and have premium linens. The bedrooms offer quiet sleeping environments…

Mornings are truly special at Vie du Reve. If you are the early bird of your group, start your day on the top deck, enjoying a favorite book or cup of coffee as you overlook the tranquil valley of trees that’s behind the house. Or take a walk in the neighborhood, past the local vineyard just up the hill. As your guests arise, they can join you as you plan the day’s events…

Once you decide to get going, you won’t have to travel far as wineries, restaurants, walking trails, golf courses and more are all close by. Remember that we are hear as your local resource, so please let us know if you'd like a recommendation. You could truly enjoy your entire stay without driving more than 10 minutes, but you’ll want to explore the world-class activities and surroundings that Sonoma has to offer.

The beauty of Vie du Reve is that you, and your guests, can plan the days to match your desires. Relax at home or be active, go out for lunch and dinners or cook at home, Vie du Reve has all the amenities you’ll need (see list of amenities below). If this is a return trip to Sonoma, you’ll probably already have your favorite places. However, if this is your first trip to Sonoma, our Guest book provides suggestions on places to go and where to shop. In advance of your visit, if you'd like a recommendation, just let us know...

Evenings provide a great opportunity to un-wind from the day’s events. Do some reading, take a nap or choose one of the decks and enjoy a glass of wine and some appetizers before dinner. The sun sets off the back decks and one of our favorite times of day is when the sun drops behind the hills across the valley. After the sun sets over the hillside, you’ll still have about 45 minutes of daylight before the sun truly sets. The air is pure; evening and nighttime skies are simply beautiful…

To help you make your decision, Vie du Reve is most ideally suited for 2 or 3 couples. We realize that one house cannot fit everyone’s needs; therefore, we are an adult-only, no pets and a non-smoking household. While we love children, our 3 levels (including a spiral staircase to the entertainment room) would mean constant supervision. Also (and unfortunately) if any of your guests use a wheelchair or have mobility limitations, we want to remind you that our home has 3 levels. Although you’ll have plenty of privacy, you’ll be in a neighborhood with full time residents (who are wonderful) and you are not in a typical tourist area. Please enjoy our home respectfully and responsibly…

We’re glad you are choosing Sonoma Valley and we hope you choose Vie du Reve.

We want your trip to be a great one, so please make sure we answer all of your questions.

A great return
We have stayed at Jeff's home before and find it an excellent place to center yourself for your Sonoma/Napa adventures. A bit farther to Napa but lots of great stuff around the home. The home itself is situated on a hill and offers a great deck and plenty of common areas to enjoy. We have been to the home before and highly recommend it and would stay again if we return to the area. Jeff is also a wonderful communicator and keeps you up to date and offers great community suggestions.

Wonderful stay!!
We enjoyed everything about our stay! The house has everything you may need to feel like you are home. The location is very central to Napa, and the Russian river valley and Alexander Valley, making the drives to each very easy. The views from the house decks are beautiful. You are literally above the trees. It’s almost like being in a tree house! The house is clean, very comfortable beds and linens. It was a great place to come back to every evening to relax from our busy days wine tasting. The communication with Jeff was amazing. He was so responsive with any question, put together a great overview of the area of wineries, restaurants, and things to do in the area. Wonderful house, wonderful stay!

Great place to stay
Everything you need is right here: kitchen is loaded, great recommendations from the hosts (accurate as well), and great patios and decks for relaxing and games. Central location to downtown Sonoma, the wineries and San Fran. Would book this place again, definitely

Perfect Weekend
The house had everything we could ask for to make our stay comfortable. Jeff was very responsive and helpful for checking in and checking out as well as provided a lot of local information for our stay. We ended up barely leaving the house other than for our tastings as we were able to cook all of our meals using the well stocked kitchen and grill! Would definitely recommend staying at this location!

Perfect place to stay for a weekend of wine drinking
Great place to relax and unwind. The accommodations were great, beds were comfortable, no issues with hot water availability, and I especially appreciated the free snacks and wine! I also loved the workout equipment and the back porch. The whole trip couldn't have been better! The only issue I encountered was the hot/cold knobs in the tubs and sinks. They don't work as labelled, but the host was quick to respond and educate me on how to use them.

We live in San Francisco, but love our escapes to the Wine Country. So, in 2009 we found the right place in Sonoma and bought. We love to share our home with friends and we hope you love it as we do...

Why they chose this property

While we've been living in San Francisco for years, at heart we are wine lovers from small towns and Sonoma was the right town to build additional roots. We love this community and we hope you get to know it while you are visiting. We bought this home because of the secluded setting as it lets us get away from the busy city and still be close to all that we enjoy; world class wineries, great restaurants and plenty of activities to keep us in shape…

What makes this property unique

Our first love of this home is just to sit and relax and enjoy nature and the valley views. Our second love is entertaining friends for the weekend. It’s a great house to entertain. If we don’t choose to go to one of our favorite restaurants, we enjoy preparing dinners at home. We start with wine and appetizers on the deck and can seat up to 8 at the dinner table. In the morning, it’s a quick walk in the neighborhood or a bike ride to the plaza for coffee and pastries…
