This house is lovely, well stocked and is located on a peaceful cove. We explored the lake a little bit, and our favorite spot in the lake was the cove where this house is situated. We would definitely stay here again!
Our daughter graduated from WCU this weekend and we went down with the Family. We had a great time ! Beautiful place and plenty of room!! Will definitely plan to go back !
My husband and our 2 fur babies had the best time at The Mountain House! It was the perfect accomodation for a quiet weekend at the lake. We fished off the dock, hiked at nearby waterfalls and overall kicked back and relaxed at the cozy house. Will definitely be coming back!
This property was great for my friends and I to stay during a wedding weekend in Cashiers. The property was clean, check in process was simple, and we had plenty of room for everyone. The mountain roads to get to the property may be treacherous for some drivers, but we had no issues since most guests were from the mountains. Would highly recommend this property!
This house/cabin has it all. Very pretty location. Slept 10 of us well. We aren’t used to driving narrow, hilly roads, so we may bring a smaller vehicle next time, but we got used to it when we left the house to explore some shops in Cashiers. Good time spent at this lake house!
Excellent location with ideal dock and cove for swimming with our kids. House was way more spacious than expected based on the pictures. House was also very clean. We had an issue with a/c but property manager/owner were on top of it before we even noticed and quickly had repair guys out to fix it. I appreciated the prompt attention. Mattresses were not terrible but also not particularly comfortable, which is really the only thing that kept us from a 5 star rating. Would definitely recommend overall. Thank you!
We loved living the lake life for the week. House was exceptional and had everything we needed. Very clean, plenty of space for everyone, and we loved having the pool table. Easy checkin and checkout. Communication with property management was easy and responses were prompt. Absolutely loved being able to bring our dog. We're definitely hoping to return next year!
This was such a nice little cabin! It was immaculately clean, very spacious, well-stocked with everything from linens and extra towels to kitchen supplies and books to read! The rooms were all so spacious. The family room was so nice with beautiful views of the lake and nice little fireplace. The porch was AMAZING and so lovely to sit on. The hosts were great, very helpful beforehand with details about the cabin, and what to expect (we didn't need them while there). It was such a nice relaxing weekend paddling around on the boats and walking through the neighborhood. Just what we needed!

Major issues we kept finding.
No hot tub but one one person jacuzzi tub in master bedroom. Canoe had cracks and holes so not usable. Kayak had hole somewhere and took in water. Fridge in pantry never cooled but just got hotter inside. Gas grill had no gas in canister, had rusty grate and whole bottom full of mouse dropping so unusable. Microwave handle was loose. Stove has alarm that wouldn’t shut off. Towel bars coming out of walls downstairs. Lights in downstairs bathroom were out but no replacement bulbs. Water pressure in bathrooms upstairs and down was very weak.

I deeply regret that you did not have a 5 star stay. We would have remedied the issue right away if we had been alerted, but unfortunately we were not made aware until after your departure. We have purchased a new grill, removed the second freezer in the panty and have repaired all items noted. We replaced the water filter which restored the water pressure and would have done that for your stay if we had known before your departure.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here to celebrate our anniversary. It's cozy, comfortable, and very clean, with a short walk to the lake and a full supply of water toys, including a canoe, paddle board, and kayak (and paddles and life jackets). The charm of the house is due in large part to its solid construction; it was built when contractors used hefty planks for flooring. We greatly enjoyed the porch, which is on the side of the house and therefore open on three sides, which allows for breezes off the lake all day. The porch has six rocking chairs and a large table for meals, and a big ceiling fan in case the day is still. The grill is on the porch so you can cook out in any weather. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped with vintage cookware. It does not have a Keurig, but there are two drip coffee makers. The house is on a no-wake cove that invites paddling. The no-wake restriction seems to discourage loud motor boats and jet skis, which adds to the quiet. The a/c worked well, and when we lucked into an early cool snap, we opened the doors and windows (all the windows open and have good screens) and enjoyed very cool mountain air. This is not a dazzling modern 5,000 square-foot Lake McMansion, but more of a charming, cozy cottage. It was very clean and quiet, and the property management folks were responsive, helpful, and honest. We look forward to staying here again.
My husband tested positive for Covid the day before we were supposed to check in. He was extremely sick. So, per the instructions on the rental agreement, I tried to reschedule only to be rejected both times & told by the property manager that the owner would not budge on the dates. I was willing to reschedule in the middle of the week in February & for 2 days instead of 3. I have had an vacation rental property & understand the rescheduling and/or refunding flexibility that owners have. I did not want a refund only the opportunity to reschedule to any date at any time within the 6 month period. We had been in Durham visiting our daughter when my husband got sick. We did end up spending 2 nights there to isolate & it was on our way back to Alabama. More importantly, we stayed there so I would be able to write this review & strongly recommend that anyone booking this property should also have travel insurance. I have never written a negative review for anything but felt compelled to do so with this.
