Host was very accommodating. The 2nd bathroom's shower needs repair - water came out like a garden house and took awhile for main bathroom's shower to get hot water. Musty smell in sunroom.
The Manor House was lovely. We had between 6 and 9 people staying and the accommodations were perfect. Could have easily slept several more. The grounds are so pretty and private. We really felt like we were in our own little world. About 20 deer visited in the early evening and we enjoyed watching them roam the grounds.Alyson was awesome to work with. Responsive, accommodating and a great host! Thanks for sharing this lovely property!
Beautiful property and huge house! A deer greeted us when we got there and we saw many more. You cant really get all the way down to the lake easily, but lots of nature to walk thru. Host was awesome!
We had a great family reunion! Surrounded by nature! My daughter was so excited because we even saw some deers outside the property. I totally recommend the stay
We stayed here with family for a wedding at Amber Grove. Great location, beautiful home, wonderful location ❤️

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The home is well furnished and located in a private quiet area overlooking Swift Creek Reservoir. We spent most of the day enjoying the gazebo
and porch. The deer feeding outside the front door were fun to watch. This manor house would be perfect for a larger group. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!
We had a great time meeting up with our family that came in from several different places over Christmas. The Manor house was spacious for our 13. The grounds are beautiful! Close proximity to shopping while still a very private secluded property.
I have 5 sisters and we were all able to stay together for my nephews wedding. Great location to relax take in the view of the lake, large table on the back porch where we played games and shared meals and laughs It was everything we hoped
Came to town for a family wedding. Needed space for 10 people including a 4 year old and 2 year old. Plenty of space. Our only regret was that due to wedding festivities we didn’t have much time to enjoy all the property had to offer.
We held our wedding at this awesome venue. Will be sending a message to the property manager about a few issues, but nothing that would keep me from renting again.
We would definitely recommend for any large families. Owners were great and communication was 5 star. Tha k you so much it definitely helped us through a very tough time.

This was the perfect place for my family from out of town to gather during my mother's 95th birthday weekend! Plenty of space to gather and spend time with each other and other family that came in from out of town in a lovely setting out of the way of the hustle and bustle of everyday life but close to all the places we needed to go. The host was most responsive to our needs as well! The fact that it was wheelchair accessible was the top selling point since my mother is in an electric wheelchair!! Would definitely rent again!
"It was such a beautiful place for my grandson's graduation. Instead of renting a hotel, our family came from Leesburg and stayed in the house. The backyard was stunning, with a lovely deck and a beautiful view of the lake. We enjoyed preparing lunch together as a family on Saturday. My granddaughter played outside while my grandson invited a couple of friends to join us. If you enjoy neutral outdoors, this is a fantastic place to stay."

We came for a softball tournament and it was a perfect place to unwind and relax at night!!! There is plenty of space and never ending hot water which is a plus when everyone needs to shower at the end of the day… the owner was quick to respond and very accommodating.. the beds where comfy and the house was very clean!!! We will definitely come back in the future!!! Oh and my brother and son and nephews probably had the most fun fishing, hunting frogs and firefly’s!!! Thank you for sharing your home!!!
WaterView Manor House was a nice quiet setting for our family gathering. Walks through the trees or to the gazebo to take in the view were relaxing. There was ample sleeping space for our large family! The Manor home was very clean and stocked well with bath towels etc. The kitchen isn’t huge but you’ll find plenty of adjacent places to eat around the kitchen. We took advantage of the nice weather and huge deck to eat several meals outside. Well situated to all we needed to attend over the weekend too. Alyson is an excellent host and replied right away to any questions I had. She was great to work with!!
We enjoyed the roominess of the house. The property was private and peaceful with lots of deer and a groundhog. The bedrooms were big and comfortable. The house and grounds need some TLC. It is too great of a place not to keep up with the little things.
The light cover for the main kitchen light was hanging down when we got there and we could not get it back up. We put it to the right of the washer/dryer. We would stay here again.
We had a great time. We had 3 adults and 4 teenagers. We stayed in the 4 bedrooms upstairs. There are two more beds off of the living room in the semi-private room. The house was very clean! The view of the lake was wonderful. The house is surrounded by trees. You can't see another house. It's very quiet. We had plenty of room, too. The host was also responsive to all of our questions and helped make our Thanksgving memorable. Thanks for the great stay!

I am Alyson, the host. Our property is managed by Tina who you will be speaking to directly when arranging your stay on Our 100 acres estate private property in Midlothian. She has "Super Host" status and she will take excellent care of you from beginning to end of your stay.
My parents are the owners of these "WaterView" homes. They are Jim and Paulanne Thacker. They raised 3 girls and loved life and loved friends and family. They built the main home we now call "The Iconic Gem" and "The Pool Pavilion" knowing they wanted family and friends to join them for all occasions. We celebrated all occasions with many special people for 40-plus years.
For several years our father drove a car at Southside Speedway in the late model division "just for kicks". Memorabilia can be seen in the pool room and garage of the main house. He had many unique hobbies and was certainly a unique man. He passed in 2010
The construction of the home took over 3 years and was completed in 1980. Our parents along with their architect enjoyed designing all of the many details of the home. The exterior rooflines and exterior windows inside became a theme throughout.
The pavilion was added 15 years later and was certainly enjoyed by family and many friends.
Our father and our sister Lori established a wedding business "Celebrations At The Reservoir" offering multiple beautiful wedding locations in and around the estate property (excluding the main house/Iconic Gem") for 17 years. Due to our sister, Lori's death in 2019 Celebrations terminated the wedding business in 2021. Shortly after Lori's death, our mother Paulanne moved to a smaller home.
My sister Carol and I then took over the management of the estate and were then faced with the upkeep expenses. Knowing how our parents enjoyed sharing their home we decided to prepare the homes for short-term rental and begin to share our blessings in this way.
We hope you all enjoy the beauty that we love and have appreciated for many years.
Why they chose this property
Our parents purchased this unique Midlothian property thinking they would own horses as our sister Lori loved to ride. They never owned horses but they did have cows on the property and kept them in the field near the Manor house for a while. The Manor house was the only home on the 100 acre property when Jim and Paulanne purchased it. They rented the home as a "long term" rental before it became the office and wedding site of "Celebrations".
Certainly the beauty of the reservoir was also a draw when purchasing the property. When purchased in the mid 70's, Woolridge Road was a "country" road and the popular neighborhoods Woodlake and Brandermill did not exist. The area has changed considerably through the years. Now, new neighborhoods and shopping is abundant.
What makes this property unique
Our parents loved enjoying walks along the water and after building the home Jim and Paulanne began to create the walkways and gazebos and "The Gardens" formally called the "Azalea Gardens". Prior to have the outdoor Pavilion there were hundreds of azaleas in the area. They hired a man named Gene Morris who was a stone mason. Gene spent years building stone walkways and walls around the property. Gene became a dear friend of our parents as well as did many men and women who worked on the property. Our parents were truly opened arms loving people. Our mother takes pleasure knowing that you also will also enjoy the walkways and "sitting areas" as mom called them around the property.
