About this property

4 Season Fun on Lake Namakagon - Snowmobiling, Boating, Fishing, UTV & More!

Alert: Because of our cleaning schedule, Check-in and check-out days are Fridays during ‘Peak Weeks’ (Memorial Day - Labor Day) for the Summer of 2024. We also have a 7 night minimum stay during peak weeks. Stay with us for a week, avoid traffic out and then take the weekend to get settled back in.

Welcome to The Hilltop on Lake Namakagon. Formerly the Hilltop Inn Restaurant, enjoy two acres and 300 feet of shoreline. Stroll our plush lakefront path or navigate our secret, wooded trails to "the point" where you’ll find a lakeside fire pit and two docks for your boat. On the way back, take a moment on our swing to ponder the week ahead, then drop your fishing gear and water sport equipment off at the boathouse.

As you enter the house, check out our walk of fish. An oversized door welcomes you into our kitchen (new appliances) and prominent island with seating for 5. The open concept great room (which includes the kitchen) is flanked with windows, houses our dining room table that seats 10, as well as our stylish living room with lounge chairs, a comfy couch (pull out for extra sleeping) and Smart TV.

The Hilltop offers 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths (8 beds & sleeps 10 adults max. and 10-14 in total). Built around a massive fireplace, our main floor boasts a huge master bedroom with a king bed and bathroom on suite. A second bedroom, with a king bed, houses the face of the fireplace, and our full guest bathroom is just across the hall. Slide open the barn door to find our third bedroom which duals as a study/office (wireless internet).

Visit the full bar in the walk-out basement before heading out to the lake, or use the pizza oven for a late-night snack. The bar area has a sink and refrigerator/freezer. Our basement also has a sleeping room with two sets of bunks (twin over full), a bathroom with a shower/jetted tub, as well and a washer and dryer. The basement drying room serves as perfect place to take care of wet gear from the lake during the summer or from cross country skiing or snowmobiling.

Make your way out on the deck to look down on the lake, catch some sun, read a favorite book or get after some grilling. Don’t mind the visitors (deer, fox, eagles and loons) as they are discreet. We do have a Blackstone grill with courtesy LP tank during the peak season. We also have a huge parking lot for all vehicles and trailers.

Pontoon Rental: Please contact Bear Country Rental. They will bring the pontoon to our dock and pick up at the end of the week!

We also have another cabin next door for groups that need more space. The Hideaway on Lake Namakagon (VRBO listing 3055440) can sleep up to six.

Lake Namakagon is 3000 acres of four-season fun! It’s a Class A muskie lake, and excellent for all types of fishing. You bring the snowmobiles, fishing equipment and cross-country skis, we have a pontoon, canoe, kayak and plenty of lifejackets. Lake Namakagon is also the headwaters of the Namekagon River (bass, trout and muskie), part of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. Float or paddle the river for a workout or just drift and gaze at its beauty.

Boat or drive to several nearby resorts, restaurants and watering holes. The Loon Saloon has great burgers and pizza (gluten-free options), games and a General Store, conveniently located a quarter mile away on Anderson Island. The Play-Mor Bar and Restaurant is a short walk or 5-minute boat ride. The Garmisch Inn Restaurant & Bierstube Lounge is a replica German village known for its homemade ginger beer and elevated outdoor patio. Need to take care of your golf fix or get a sit-down meal, visit Lakewoods Resort and Golf.

The Town of Namakagon in southern Bayfield County, Wisconsin is lightly populated, densely wooded, and a popular vacation destination in Northwest WI. It’s surrounded by 850,000 acres of Chequamegon National Forest. It’s a popular area loaded with trails for hiking, biking, ATV/UTV, skiing and snowmobiling. We are connected to the Bayfield Country trails and located less than an hour from the Valhalla Snowmobile Trail.

Cable, WI: For the kids, a must is Natural History Museum & Outdoor Park. The Cable Recreation Park has both a skateboard and bike park, jungle gym, pickleball, basketball and bike trail. Coffee = Velo Cafe, Brunch = Brickhouse Cafe, Pizza/Beer = The Rivers Eatery, and fine dining / music = The Portage.

The Cable-Hayward is also home the American Birkebiener which is the largest cross country ski race in the country. The Birkie Trail hosts monthly ski and fat tire races.

The Sevenwinds Casino, Lodge and Conference Center is only35 minutes away and just outside of Hayward, WI. The beauty of Lake Superior, Ashland, WI and Bayfield, WI are all less than an hour from The Hilltop Hideaway.

Great Secluded Getaway
This was a great property for our family! It was close enough to things to do and was also great for just hanging out together as a family! Very safe, friendly community. Travis was responsive prior to our trip, during, and after our stay. Had all of the necessities to have a comfortable, fun time!

(Extended) Family Vacay
This place is very nicely updated upstairs with enough space to accommodate our 4 families. The bedrooms upstairs were decently sized with comfortable beds and the basement was spacious for additional sleeping accommodations. The docks were great for fishing off and parking our own boat. The kids enjoyed swimming off the dock in the shallow water down by the fire pit. The house did get a little warm towards the afternoon/evening a couple days during our stay (upstairs) but I believe we stayed during the hottest week of the summer. The host did provide multiple fans. We would recommend some curtains to keep the afternoon sun out. We could view the lake from the main living area out both the north and west windows. The kitchen was stocked pretty well and the extra fridge in the basement was appreciated. Travis was great to work with and was quick to answer any questions we had as well as checked in to make sure all was well during our stay. Overall, our stay was good, our families have been enjoying this area for 30+ years.

Getaway
We had a great experience! The house was extremely clean and spacious. The teenagers loved having their own downstairs space with bunk beds while the adults could relax upstairs. Easy access to lake namakagon with plenty of space for our two boats on the dock. We were lucky with the weather so enjoyed dinner on the deck most nights using the flat top provided. The host Travis made sure check in went smoothly and checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We could not be more satisfied with our stay, we will definitely be returning!

Perfect Hilltop Hideaway
We had 3 families (ages 4-64) come to together for a long lake weekend and it was awesome. Lots of space to each family both in the house and outdoors. Great upgrades throughout the home to make you comfortable but still feeling “up north”. Fire pit with tikis was a perfect spot in the evenings. Lake Namekgon was a awesome, lots of spots to stop for a drink, fishing and a sand bar. We can’t wait to be back next summer. Thanks guys!
