This place was absolutely adorable! The neighborhood was lovely, and the house itself was amazing. You can tell it’s been thoughtfully updated—it’s so cute inside! The steps were a little steep for toddlers, but once we blocked them off, it worked out perfectly. We had such a fun time and really enjoyed the whole experience!
The property was so quaint. My family enjoyed our stay here. Definitely recommend if you want to stay in Bent Tree without the long drive in. Its conveniently located and easy to find. We enjoyed the closed in porch and it would be lovely when everthing is in bloom in the spring.
Amy was very responsive and accommodating. This stay was a last minute decision as I was driving through but it was a lovely place to relax and take a break. The views were lovely and the hikes in the area were breathtaking and easy to access as I was limited on time. Amy had great local suggestions in the area for both hiking and dinner locations. Will definitely be back!
This home offered my family a beautiful and relaxing environment. The bedrooms and beds were comfy. We had 2 adults and 1 kid fit comfy in the basement/bunk bed space. And 2 adults in the bedroom on the main level. We also hung out in the top floor bedroom to enjoy the views of the trees from the highest point. Loved the simple decor and lovely furniture.
We took advantage of the outdoor spaces (e.g., grilling on the deck, sitting on the bedroom balcony).
The neighborhood amenities are fantastic. We enjoyed some easy trails and our 4 year old was able to handle them. One trail lead to a beautiful waterfall. We had time on the sandy beach by the lake. Enjoyed fishing by the stables.
There’s no way you can be bored while visiting this home.
Amy was a delight to communicate with and quick to respond.
The most beautiful neighborhood - we saw deer and black bears and so many other animals. Beautiful mountains and a lake full of fish, very easy drive into the town that has everything needed. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. A few things if traveling with small children - the windows on the patio are pretty low to the ground and fully open - which was amazing for fresh air and that mountain breeze, however, there are no screens - so kids have to be warned and watched carefully so they don't fall out. The stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom are extremely steep - so kids just need to be watched carefully. Same is true for the stairs leading down to the basement bedroom. The owners were amazing and made the process so easy - very thankful to them for letting us use their house.
Host Doesn't Respond Well To Constructive Feedback
When we arrived, the entire home had a very musty odor. We opened the windows to try to air it out. We bought air fresheners to help, but it still had an odor in the 3 days we stayed. The outdoor decks had a bunch of leaves that had been there for a while, so we cleaned them off with a broom. We found mouse droppings in the utensil drawer after using them to eat. After seeing that, we washed everything to ensure they were clean. The comforter in the master had a large stain on it, not sure if it has always been there or not washed. We tried to use the propane fire table on the deck as advertised, but the tank was empty. The water pressure is very low; unsure if that’s resolvable. The downstairs area was always warm and never really cooled off at night. The property wasn’t walk-in ready or clean when we arrived.
We notified the host of all this and even sent pictures of the concerns we mentioned. They offered to give us a discount on a future visit, but we told them that we would not be coming back there to visit as it was just for an event we attended within the community, and we are from another state. We told them that a cleaning fee refund would be appreciated if they thought it appropriate. This was when their emails got angry, and they accused us of threatening them. We were told not to contact them again; the husband replied that our concerns were crazy and to get help. I've never had a bad experience with VRBO or any VRBO host in all the years I've used them.
Our family spent a magical Christmas here. The cabin was spacious and had plenty of room for our family of 6. We enjoyed the fireplace located in the living room that really helped keep the cabin warm and cozy. We also looked forward to the family of deer that passed through the property daily. Amy was a great host she was great about keeping in contact and when we had a small issue she was able to take care of it quickly. Can’t say enough good things about this property. Such a great place to getaway.
