Escape from the hustle and bustle and treat yourself to a tranquil adventure when you book this gorgeous, dog-friendly home away from home! This 1940s cottage sits on Pleasant Pond, which is a 749-acre body of water. You are seven and a half miles from Gardner, almost nine miles from Richmond, 12 miles from beautiful historic downtown Hallowell, and 15.6 miles from the state capital Augusta. Access to the house is through the active dairy farm, which also is home to two beautiful white horses! There is a boat launch just a few miles down the street and a dock to attach the boat to.

Outdoor living is a big deal here. Spend lazy evenings sitting around the firepit by the water, dining alfresco at the picnic table, or treating your friends to delicious grilled patties and veggies thanks to the propane grill available on the deck. From the sunroom, you can watch the seaplanes take off and land several times a day. The well-equipped kitchen is complete with all major appliances and everything you could need to prepare tasty homemade meals and treats for your guests, however, there is no dishwasher. Additional amenities include a stackable washer/dryer, high-speed WiFi, and partial AC.

Not happy

Cabin old and floors dirty. Once there instructions State don’t use water or washing machines and limit AC use. lots of multi plugs with extension cords and internet access information was not same as text instructions. Loft window does not close. Multiple steps and gravel path to get down to cabin. (30 ft).

Listing is misleading

We could not stay at the property because there is a steep gravel path leading dosn to the cottage. This fact is not mentioned in the listing and there are no pictures of this on the site. I never would have booked if this was known. I managed to get down the hill once to find out that the lockbox wouldn't work. After several calls to an offshore call center, a local representative finally called back. By that time it was hours later. We had left the property and found a motel to stay at. It was 9 pm, dark, and we were getting swarmed by mosquitoes. The cottage was cute but the misleading listing about the access and the offshore host company ruined my vacation.

Pleasant Pond camp.

Very relaxing vacation. The excellent weather certainly helped. We live locally so our adult children could come over for kayaking and dinners. The fire pit was great and we had s’mores every night. Just need to bring your own firewood. Having Wi-Fi was a plus. Dog friendly as it was fenced all around.

evergreen cottage stay

fine and functional cottage with good outdoor features-dock and fire pit are solid. A bit more inland than expected so day trips were more of a drive than anticipated. There were some issues with the cottage small appliances-coffee pot, microwave and brita water were not usable. The kitchen had limited silverware and food prep/serving ware. We had one morning where the water pressure/toilet was not working but kicked back on after some effort to run the water. Customer service was not very effective in addressing the concern. Canoe only has one paddle so we did not use it. lovely farms and off the beaten path.
