The Stables is a self contained cottage set in Chelston Farm. It is a unique slice of New Zealand farming history. It has a beautiful private outlook with the sights and sounds of the country. It is a unique opportunity to stay in a cottage with all the modern comforts and beautiful views. Close to native bush, abundant bird life and all grades of walking from the fit to the frail. Established gardens, wonderful elevated views out to sea. Absolute seclusion peace and natural beauty.

Hibernation hideaway

Our second time here and will be back. Such a perfect hideaway for a few days recharging. Lovely and cosy. Its very rustic in style but has everything needed for a few days off grid.

A little bit of rustic paradise

Absolutely perfect for a few days away from it all. Warm, peaceful and had everything we needed. Loved being able to bring the dog as well. We will definitely be back.

we (grandparents, 2 grandsons and dog) all enjoyed our stay at the old stables. We loved the quirky building, the peaceful environment, the ambiance. we appreciate the attention to detail, with all the vintage items that decorate this cosy place.

Really cool little place good value for money Only a couple minor things they could improve on the mattress isn’t good the shower temperature wall over the place and the soaps were basically empty at the sink which is all minor things but good setting and good value

Rustic escape!

Mike is an excellent host and both the property and the location are great! Don't expect all the mod cons because this is a rustic escape to simply switch off! We did find the bed to be quite uncomfortable, unfortunately, but the stars at night were amazing.

Perfect Getaway

Pictures don't do it justice, we had an amazing 2 night stay with our wee dog. So peaceful, the landscape is amazing for adventure walks, and no TV meant we spent time just hanging out. No kids with us, but I'm sure they would find the loft bedroom that opens out onto the back upper deck super fun. We will be back!

Gorgeous rustic bach

This is a gorgeous rustic bach. If you are looking for a spot away from it all, and love the simple things, this is perfect. Its clean, welcoming and has everything you need. It was perfect for our wee family. If you are after a hotel like experience, I wouldn't recommend!! Thanks for everything Mike!
