It was such a perfect getaway. Host was nice. Communication over vrbo messaging could have been more better but that was not a hassle as the office was right opposite. We are extremely happy.
A quick one night stay in this adorable train caboose made for a perfect stopping point for our road trip. The beds for roomie for our party of six. The bathroom was small but that’s to be expected! We did a very late check-in as we were delayed taking pictures at the Grand Canyon however, if you do arrive later than when the office closes, they will accommodate you and leave a welcome package. The local town is adorable and has lots of shops to enjoy.
Went to check in and told caboose was unavailable due to frozen pipe. Told we could get refund BUT we had driven from Phoenix with 3 Grandchildren who were expecting to stay in a Caboose. I checked with VRBO for another place to stay but was told nothing for same day. It was Noon and no one had called me to tell me our accommodations were not usable. I was then told an hour later we could stay in caboose with no hot water but could use the shower facilities for the RV park. We would still get a refund for the inconvenience. I asked about the heated pool that is listed as an amenity on the premises. I was told pool was closed! I assumed, since it was an RV Park, there would be several shower stalls. There was ONE room to use with a toilet, sink and shower all in one room. I had to give the children their showers before bed One at a time. Every time they played outside we would have to take them up to the bath house to wash their hands in warm water. I was told by the woman in the office FOUR times that we would be receiving a refund! When we checked out the last thing I asked her was whether we would still receive a refund and she said “ YES”! BUT when we returned home and requested refund we were told that we stayed there so No Refund! It didn’t matter what they promised us or the inconvenience, Excuse me, there was no hot water in our room and no heated pool! An activity we had promised Grandkids! When VRBO contacted them, they LIED! Said they had not promised a refund!

Disliked: Cleanliness
Cute Caboose
We enjoyed the historic ambience of the caboose. My 8 year old granddaughter was thrilled to stay in the top bunk. The bedding was clean and the mattresses comfortable.
Just don’t look to close as the place sure could use a deep clean or maybe just a cleaning. The outdoor patio furniture is so tattered there’s no way one could sit on them. I was disappointed about this as we planned to star gaze.
The pool has something wrong with it as it was a very hazy green. My daughter and granddaughter could not see beyond 2 feet under water with their goggles. We regretted getting in and showered right away.
Great experience, nice hot shower, heater works beautifully

2/10 Terrible

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
The only thing we liked was that this was an authentic caboose. The moment we pulled in I knew this was a terrible choice. The location looked more like a junk yard than an RV and glamping site. The freshly painted, private looking caboose in the photos was actually drab, rusted and included a rotting wooden backporch that had been added, and had time to decay since the photos were updated! It got worse. The inside was disgusting. We had to clear cobwebs and kill spiders... many IN the sleeping areas. The freezer in the fridge hadn't been defrosted in a LONG time. There is no curtain or privacy glass on the door, so people walking by can see in. There was Duct tape on the fridge handle, broken/missing mirror trim in the bathroom, chargers won't stay in the outlets, 3 TVs but no cable or antennas, gross shower... the list goes on. The red drapes had so much dust on top of them it was clear no one had deep cleaned in YEARS. We couldn't sleep and left in the very, very early morning. DO NOT STAY HERE. I'm a 49 year old parent with two teens. Our biggest hope is that we can laugh about this someday.
