About the host

Hosted by Zane Dunham

Host profile image
Hello, my name is Zane! I love playing and enjoying the outdoors, and living in the Northwest.

I'm a two time UW graduate, my work experience includes working at Patagonia, The Starbucks Reserve, and a chef at a James Beard Award Winning restaurant. I now run my own business Nowhere, where I combine all my passions to make a better food system.

Why they chose this property

Montlake is a centrally located Seattle neighborhood that is quiet, walkable, and known for its historic charm. It has excellent proximity to the University of Washington, parks, and great local eateries and businesses. A short walk to the Montlake cut and Husky Stadium, two of the greatest settings in college sports. Along with two great parks, Interlaken Park, across the street, and the magnificent Arboretum down the street. Great for exploring all that Seattle has to offer and longer trips beyond the city in the Puget Sound region.

What makes this property unique

What sets the Montlake Garden Home apart is the garden itself — 2,800 square feet of private, fenced outdoor space that guests fall for. Wander among mature plantings and a 100 year old Japanese maple, play a round of bocce or cornhole, fire up the grill, and settle into one of several lounge areas as the evening light filters through the trees. It's the kind of backyard that turns a trip into a stay you're reluctant to leave.
Inside, this 1926 historic home has been thoughtfully renovated so nothing feels dated. Original character including a gas fireplace, the sunny dining room with views of the garden. A fully equipped chef's kitchen, fast 412 Mbps wifi, and dedicated workspace are all on the first level. Upstairs are three comfortable bedrooms, two with en-suite baths, plus a quiet reading nook overlooking the garden. Downstairs, an office with a sofa bed sleeps two more, so the home hosts up to seven with ease.
Montlake is one of Seattle's quietest, most walkable historic neighborhoods, yet minutes from everything. Interlaken Park sits across the street, the Washington Park Arboretum is a short stroll, and the University of Washington, Husky Stadium, and the Montlake Cut are all close by, all ideal for game weekends, graduations, campus visits, or stays near UW Medical Center. Great local restaurants and bakeries are an easy walk away.
As your host, I've filled the home with what I love about the Northwest including books, national parks finds, and a kitchen built for real cooking. Whether you're a family settling in, a group reconnecting, or here for a longer stay, this home is made to feel like your own corner of Seattle.
