Beachfront home with 2 private spaces

Two self-contained rental units in one beach house! Ideal for friends traveling together, or families with grown children. Enjoy togetherness & privacy both! Hang out in the larger Main Residence by day, but enjoy the privacy and quiet of your own space by night. You'll be right in popular Maya Beach, within walking distance of bars and restaurants, a grocery store, and a car/golfcart rental agency.

Joya del Mar is a beautifully located vacation home with two private units - perfect for sharing between two couples or a family. The bigger Main Residence has a full kitchen, a large living room and a king bedroom. From an outdoor staircase you access the Upper Suite, a 1-bedroom with its own bathroom and small kitchenette. Being a separate entrance and with open railings, it's not suitable for kids but it's perfect for adults wanting to share a beach house but have plenty of privacy.

You'll have direct beachfront access to the public, but quiet, Maya Beach. Both the Upper Suite and Main Residence offer large balconies on the beach side, with non-stop views.

Great home on the beach!

We really enjoyed our stay at Joya Del Mar. the house was clean, the linens and furnishings very comfortable and couldn’t beat the location being right on the beach. We did a little cooking at the house, but also enjoyed meals out. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the greatest, but we made the most of it. Went back inland to Cockscomb Basin (hiked and tubed), did a snorkeling trip with Go Sea Belize. Communication with the host during our stay was great and really appreciated the honest and informative guest book with tips and tricks for our stay.

Upon arrival looked nice. Opened door to bottom suite had a terrible "cat/urine/spray" smell. A/C in living room not working, serviced during stay but stopped again several days after serviced. Lots of road noise from traffic (hardware store across the street). Drawers in kitchen did not work properly, drain in shower kept popping out. A lot of little things that all added up. It is right on the beach and just a couple of houses down from Maya Beach Bistro. Property Manager very responsive. We have travelled to Placencia for the past six years; this stay unfortunately rated among the worst. I would not recommend this place for the price they are asking. Dwelling has not been taken care of.

We are so disappointed to hear your comments after we worked with you along the way during your stay and offered a refund. It’s too bad we didn’t know about the other concerns while you were staying, as we could have easily had someone make the necessary small repairs. We will certainly take a look at those things now. With regards to the AC, we thought it was best to repair it, rather than disrupt your stay by installing a new one. However, we would certainly have replaced it had we known the repair was not enough. There’s never been a cat living at Joya del Mar and the guests immediately prior to you did not notify us of any problem. We acted immediately by offering you a cleaning which you refused. We discussed that a furniture cleaning during your stay was not possible. We are really sorry about that, and all of the furniture has now been professionally cleaned. There is nothing more important than the satisfaction of our guests. We humbly thank you for your comments, and will use them to make improvements going forward.
