This space was very charming and retro. We enjoyed the porch and hot tub. It was close to restaurants and beaches.

The host was responsive to our concerns, the home was clean, the bed we slept in comfortable, and the price was right for the age of the home and location. When we arrived the kitchen basics were lacking such as only two spoons and no usable fry pan. The host sent us a nice 10 inch fry pan. We did not complain about the other insufficiency until leaving and the host indicated they would be fixed.

Overall the house was clean and good value for the nightly stay rate. Close to beach and places to eat. The hottub is exposed to the street so that is not private and the people behind you have a direct view of you also. When staying ,we had people around us that stayed or lived ,we are unsure as we seen large and numerous totes outside the house ,directly behind us. Late at night we would have light shined into the windows and my son stayed in our room bc he was uncomfortable with that. This happened three out of the four nights we stayed. We also came home for a day out and when we pulled up two cars were pulled into the drive that we did not know. They did leave , but they were walking around the house and we were unsure why they were there. We never had anything messed with or anything just very uncomfortable and made you uneasy on a trip.

The host stated that there was a dishwasher and ice maker. There is neither of those. The dishes were filthy. I spent over an hour doing the dishes (by hand) that I thought we would use. There are still plenty of dirty dishes and no organization in the cupboards. There was a screwdriver and screws in with the silverware. Also, the arm for the door was broken off and sitting in a box on the counter in the kitchen. And, I dropped an earring in the bedroom and looked under the bed and dresser to retrieve it. There is enough dust & animal fur to stuff a toy. Sadly disappointed. On a positive note, it was a great location. Oh, and cockroaches were a problem. I hope some of these issues can be resolved. We won’t be back. Sorry:( in our 10 years of vacation rentals, we have never had to leave a negative response)
Loved our stay. It was close to everything and in a super quiet area. Our host was helpful and easy to get ahold of for anything we needed! I can’t wait to stay here for our next trip!!
Pro: convenient location-that is the only plus.It is 1 of 3 buildings on the lot (was not stated in the listing). Our party was me & my daughters- ages 26 &16. The hot tub is at the head of the driveway; a car parked in the driveway will provide some obstruction from the road view. We used the hot tub 1 night & enjoyed it. Fridge is not hooked up for water or ice dispenser. Listing says it has an ice maker but it does not. Kitchen sink also has a filtered water spigot that doesn’t work. We bought bagged ice & gallons of bottled water (couldn’t find any ice trays to make ice). There is no dishwasher (listing also said there was one). This is an old house, & it still has the original kitchen. With old spaces come evidence of pests- I will just say that. We did not leave any food out & wiped down our counters each morning, & hand washed every kitchen utensil, plate, & glass before we used them. We only used the oven & toaster so I cannot speak to the range top use or drip coffee maker. Bathroom is OK; water pressure is fair, shower could use a complete removal & redo of all the black stained caulking. Queen bed is uncomfortable. The host does provide a beach umbrella & base, shovel, & 2 beach chairs (low back non-reclining kind that sit almost directly in the sand-uncomfortable! We ended up renting some). I added a small cooler & reusable ice packs. This is a no frills inexpensive beach rental, but I would spend more to stay elsewhere. Host was responsive to my questions.
We had a fantastic stay at this lovely house in Venice Beach! The home was well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable getaway. The location was perfect and the beds very comfy. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we truly enjoyed our time there. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to experience the best of Venice Beach!
No complaints at all. We were very pleased with our stay. We were lacking nothing. I will definitely use VRBO in the future. Thank you for making the arrangement so easy and our stay relaxing..
The Historic House is a wonderful, comfortable property very close to downtown Venice, beaches and bike trails. The property manager, Bishop, has provided all the essentials for a carefree vacation. His instructions for checking in were clear and timely. Bishop made us feel welcome and we would certainly stay here again.
This cute little house was a perfect home base for our 10 day stay in Venice. It was immaculate and in a very convenient and quiet location. It had comfortable bed, great shower, good washer and dryer and TVs and every amenity we needed. Kitchen was very well equipped. Host was very responsive and kindly permitted an early check in. Highly recommend.

My family and I took a 5 day vacation to Venice Florida. My first inpression when I booked online was how this little home was priced so great being down road from the beach! A 5 min drive if that. Anytime I had a question the host would respond quickly and directions were straight forward and easy to follow. The home had everything we needed. This home is old, a piece of history. It has character and charm and I would stay here many times if availble. Venice is a safe family orineted town and your lucky if you find this place!
Very clean but old and cute. The door stuck so at first we thought we were locked out after entering the code but got in. Then we had an issue with tiny ants by the kitchen sink. The refrigerator was not working. It would not keep anything cold. Other than the old smell it was fine.

Not as expected
First off, the pictures are not at all what the property looks like. The musty and mildew smell is still lingering on all of my washed clothing. Our pet we brought kept finding dead roaches under the beds and there were lots of dust bunnies behind the doors and under beds as well. There is also a hole in the wood flooring I continually stepped in and stubbed my toes on. If you plan to stay here make sure to bring your own toilet paper and paper towels. There was a tiny portion of toilet paper left for the duration of 3 nights. Overall, would not stay again!

It was ok, but probably won't use again.
The house is cute. The pictures online match. The A/C was on and comfortable. Some problems we had are an ant problem in the kitchen and another type of bug in the bedrooms.
My friend had them in her bed and I had them on the lampshade in my room. I didn't run out screaming because they seemed harmless and didnt move the whole time we were there. The ants were contained to the kitchen and also harmless.
The home is old and smells like it. The original floor by the bedrooms and bathroom is splintering so we had to be very careful not step there barefooted.
The last few things to mention are the common area TV not working and no towels, bathmat, or washcloths at arrival. We looked around and I texted the number for the host, but we didn't hear back and we didnt find them in the home. We ended up buying our own at the closest Walmart. On night 2 we found the little closet with the towels thankfully. On day 3 we were startled by someone trying to open the door with the code, but thankfully it didnt work. I yelled at the person that the home was occupied and they yelled that this was there rental. I told them they need to contact the person they are renting from because this house isn't it. Turns out this home has rentals immediately behind it. And I mean immediately behind it. I didn't like the proximity the home is to multiple other rental properties as I was looking for a more residential experience. Last thing was the window in my bedroom wouldn't lock.

I've owned a small business in Venice for years. Fell in love with the city and now own multiple airbnb properties. Venice is my favorite city to visit in Florida. We take pride in our properties and are continually updating them.
Why they chose this property
This property was built in 1926. Still has many of the features of a 1926 Florida home. House is very private, cozy, and in a phenomenal location. Half mile from Venice Island and a mile from Venice Beach.
