Thank you so much for taking the time to share regarding your stay. Your trust and your business are incredibly important to us. Its our sincerest hope that a revisit will happen, sooner rather than later.
The house itself was fine on the inside but the damage due to the hurricane was misrepresented and the property was not maintained on the outside. The roads were not plowed and even with chains and all wheel drive, the property is not accessible or safe to access. The roads were not plowed and one road was washed out with cones indicating the road was single lane; ditches were covered with snow so we ended up in a ditch when we tried to let a truck traveling in the opposite direction pass us. We had to walk to the property in the dark and leave the car, suitcases and food behind. The porch was an ice sheet and one of us fell trying to open the front door as the ice was in the shape of a hill. The directions to get in were wrong and we had to call for correct information. We had to use a sliding porch door that had less ice abutting it to get in and out. We were provided 2 tow truck numbers by the rental company- one was disconnected and one had a voice mail that they were only open 9-5 on weekdays. As the abandoned car was a road hazard, we called the fire department which did not answer. We called the police and were told the location was not safe. Our insurance company sent a tow truck hours later which had to be chained to a tree in order to not go over the cliff trying to pull the car out. We left when it was daylight and lost substantial funds on rent and ski lift tickets. The rental company misrepresented the property's safety!

The weather you described was forecasted days in advance of your arrival so the conditions in the area should have come as no surprise. We email all guest arriving during winter months the challenges of traversing the roads and driveways during that time. When a forecasted winter event is due to take place or has already blown in we send other emails to all arrivals again warning of conditions and to come prepared with 4Wd and chains or at the least AWD and chains. The one variable we cannot control is the driving ability and experience when driving in in-climate weather. In your particular case our inspection team and housekeeping staff made it to the home to make the home ready just prior to your arrival. If you purchased Travel Insurance I recommend contacting them about a possible recourse for the additional expenses that you mentioned.
