The Avery Street Beach House is our family home that has been painstakingly restored and is meticulously maintained. It is available for rent to quiet, mature, respectful and responsible families only. We do not rent our home for any bachelor/bachelorette parties, high school/college reunions, wedding receptions or any type of gathering whatsoever.

The Avery Street Beach House accommodates TWELVE (12) guests maximum. We do not allow more than twelve guests in the house nor on the property at any time for any reason. Please do not consider this house as an option should you have more than twelve guests or even want to have visitors for the day.

This house boasts the most ideal location as there are no bluffs, sand dunes nor endless staircases to hike up and down when going to and from the beach. A short walk to everything including downtown South Haven's boutique shops, cafe's and restaurants, river walk and newly renovated marina. The beautiful exterior design was inspired by the 'Shingle Style' architecture commonly found on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. The luxurious, spacious and functional floor plan includes a Master Suite on the first floor. This home was designed to accommodate large families. Six large bedrooms with four full bathrooms and beautiful high end fixtures, finishes and furniture throughout. Three outdoor spaces including front and side covered porches as well as a large rear deck provide an abundance of outdoor space.

THE VERY BEST LOCATION!!!

Do not compromise on your vacation.: This home has six (6) spacious bedrooms with four (4) full bathrooms and sleeps twelve guests comfortably in beds in bedrooms. The first floor Master Suite has a king size bed with en suite private bath. Five upstairs bedrooms include one king bed, two queen beds, one full bed and the fifth bedroom has two twin beds. Other amenities include a huge entertaining kitchen with solid cherry cabinets, granite counter tops, GE Profile stainless steel appliances and every imaginable cooking utensil. This home boasts a historic beach house interior design as well with custom woodwork, hardwood floors, retro light fixtures, door hardware and numerous details throughout! Central air conditioning, full size washer and dryer, color TV, cable, DVD, WIFI, off-street parking for four cars, spacious side and rear yard.

There is also a new stand alone Coach House located behind the back deck. The Coach House has a ping pong table, Foosball table and comfortable seating with flat screen TV. The Coach House is perfect for your teenage children or grandchildren needing a place to hang out and relax.

Do as much or as little as you like. Relax and do nothing, go for long walks, hang out on the beach, sun bathe, swim in the lake, jump the waves, watch the sunset, roast marshmallows, play backgammon, eat real ice cream, have a meaningful conversation with your spouse, spend time with your children, spend time with your parents, spend some time alone. Call your boss and tell her you quit and you are moving to South Haven to enjoy the good life. Keep dreaming!

The Avery Street Beach House is located in South Haven's Historic Monroe Park neighborhood just steps away from the beautiful North Beach. Southwestern Michigan has often been referred to as the "Hamptons of the Midwest" and the beautiful North Beach is the jewel in the center of this region.

Walk everywhere! Within walking distance are the North Beach, Woodman Beach, Dyckman Beach, South Haven Municipal Marina, Stanley Johnson Park and a wide variety of retail shops and restaurants in the downtown area.

While we love animals, we respectfully ask that you please leave your pets at home. Please do not ask us if we will make an exception to this rule!

Avery street beach house was perfect for a weekend with friends. Plenty of space for everyone, great gathering places throughout the house and outside. Cannot beat the location with its proximity to the beach and to downtown South Haven. Had a fantastic time!

Everything You Need and More

This is an incredible home where attention has been given to every detail to make your visit enjoyable. The layout is great with lots of big bedrooms and more than enough common space to hang out and make memories. Lots of windows that provide an abundance of sunlight. Michael made renting and arriving a joy. I would highly recommend. We will be back!

My friends and I started renting The Avery in 2009…this was our 10th year! You couldn’t ask for better a location in South Haven. Lake Michigan is a 2 minute walk and downtown South Haven is less then a 10 minute walk. If the weather isn’t accommodating, enjoy a game of foosball or ping pong in the new game room. The house is decorated tastefully and has plenty of room for everyone. We're looking forward to our 11th year at The Avery

What a great place!

What a great place! First off, you can’t beat South Haven in the summer. And the house is top notch. Loved all the deck space to enjoy the outdoors. There were plenty of bathrooms and everyone had their own room. Also, 2 hot water tanks, so no problem with multiple showers going at the same time. While we had just adults for this trip, the house would be great for a family visit as well. Well appointed, plenty of glasses, dishes, towels, etc. Great location and easy to get around to all the fun stuff in South Haven. We rented a pontoon one afternoon and went out into Lake Michigan and up the river. Super fun! Two thumbs up!

Our favorite spot

My grandparents started a tradition back in the 50s of taking all of us to Spring Lake (to Prospect Point) for a week each summer. We all stayed in the same cabin and had such a great time together we hated to leave. Time went by and things happened and the tradition stopped. My husband and I picked up the tradition again starting in 2004 - we have rented a house for all 9 of us - nieces and nephews, great niece and nephews (and my mom before she passed) each Memorial Day weekend either in Grand Haven or South Haven. We have stayed at the Avery House 3 times, most recently last weekend. It is our favorite spot. The house is perfect for us - plenty of bedrooms and baths, room for all of us to eat together at the kitchen table, two HVAC systems (one up/one down) to keep us all happily warm/cool, and within walking distance to the lake and to town. All the features are new or newer and the house is immaculate. We have stayed at another of Michael B's properties - 104 - which we also liked.

Such a GREAT place!!

My family of 14 has stayed at the Avery Street Beach House for the past 6 years. I hope I never have to go anywhere else!! The house is so spacious and comfortable. . . the two big king bedrooms are key, as we usually have a couple of babies whose pac 'n play cribs fit easily. . .the kitchen fits all of us for fun, fun dinners. . . plenty of pots and pans and baking tools. . .the porches are key to some of our most memorable evenings. Four full bathrooms!!! They are sooooo well equipped with fabulous towels. . . lots of storage, as I like to put everything away. . . decorated just so nice. . . and I know they probably don't have to make it so cute, but it is! The newly finished basement and extra refrigerator added a great new space for us. The location is perfect!! Walking distance to everything. . . beach, shops, town. . . the driveway has hosted some epic "bags" tournaments. Our last three Christmas card photos were taken on the very photogenic porch. . . I should probably stop, but I could go on. . . thank you sooooo to our hosts!!

Avery House is Amazing!

I had the pleasure of staying at the Avery House with my sister for a "mother's day" break. I was immediately impressed by how beautiful the home is, how well decorated, and how comfortable it is. The kitchen is simply beautiful, everything is top of the line. There are six bedrooms, each of them with a character of their own. This home is ideal if you have a baby or small children. There is a HUGE playground structure in the back that would keep any child entertained for hours. there is a bedroom with twin beds for small children and another bedroom features a crib for those with infants. There is also a high chair in the kitchen for those who may need one. Parking at the Avery House is a breeze, as there is a long driveway that you can pull right into. No need to struggle with street parking. Want to go to the beach? Avery House is mere steps away from North Beach. Just cross the street and follow the clearly marked path. The bedroom I stayed in was the black and white bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of room for me to spread out. Again, each room has a character of its own. Its very welcoming and feels like home, away from home. Not like a stuffy, sterile hotel. With its six bedrooms, and plenty of living space, this is the ideal stay for a family reunion, or a large group of people looking to enjoy a weekend in South Haven. The value is evident and well worth the rental fee. I highly recommend the Avery House, and plan on staying there again in the near future. I have no complaints!

Super responsive host! Beautiful house and great for a getaway for all ages. 15 minute walk across the river and 3 minutes to beach. Only downside, bring your own soap, shampoo, coffee.

Last minute girls trip

Last minute work schedule change providing a few days off, heading to the Avery home in South Haven was absolutely first thought. It doesn’t matter what the weather is like, it’s always 75 and sunny at the Avery. Perfectly appointed with spacious kitchen and dining room extending outside to fabulous deck. Comfy large family room complete with game/dinette table with plenty of space for everyone. Basement living area is perfect for the night owls to watch a movie and hang out while the rest. Looking forward to going back!!

Fun in the sun in South Haven

We wanted to take a late summer family vacation, and hadn't previously spent much time on the west side of the state. There were 10 of us, including 3 children and we were looking for a place that had a sufficient number of bedrooms, dining table for all 10 of us, and was in walking distance to everything. The Avery Street Beach House was everything we wanted and had plenty of room for us all to gather together, read, make puzzles and play games. The home was as advertised, beautifully kept up, well stocked with everything you need, and very comfortable. The kids enjoyed the backyard playground, outdoor games, and the beach which was just a short walk away. Shopping and dining was close and plentiful. The property manager, (Michael) was responsive to our questions, very organized, and provided everything we needed. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a really nice place to stay with friends and family, in a beach town.

Wonderful Stay at the Beach

Terrific property with plenty of room for our three generations. The Kitchen is large and well-equipped, the large deck is great for grilling out and the game room was a special treat for the family. Check in was a breeze and Michael communicated well ahead of time and during our stay. Great location - a block from the beach and a few steps from Bunde’s Bakery (yum!).

Beautiful property conveniently located close to North Beach. Walkable to South Pier and Downtown South Haven. Home has everything you need for a family vacation, from kids to adults. My favorite place to read and relax was the side porch. While the kids loved the swing set and gaming room!

Great house in a perfect location!

What a great weekend getaway! The location is a very short walk to a beautiful sandy beach, with volleyball courts and kayak rentals. The house had everything we needed - and a few things we forgot like seasonings and ice. I highly recommend this property - very easy check-in and out, very clean and well stocked with fresh towels and linens. I would stay here again!!

Cannot emphasize enough how wonderful the stay has always been at the Avery and this time was not any different. We needed a getaway from the city amid covid restrictions, and the house was a great place to enjoy outdoors and to simply spread out.
