amazing summer rental

We are almost too hesitate to review this amazing home as its the perfect vintage summer getaway. My husband and I count the days until our week is available in the summer for our family and friends.The photos do not do it justice. Its refreshing to rent a home authentic to the 30s-40s style of old school Tahoe. We love it here.

Perfect beach front home

Renting this home was a perfect holiday for my family. We had never been to Tahoe and did not know what to expect. This home in every way exceeded my expectations. The home is in a very safe gated neighborhood. All the homes are nice, but this one is exceptional. It is a well planned area and there is a lot of space between the homes (not a crowded subdivision by any means). The home is beautiful and the pictures do not really capture the perfection. The home itself is very comfortable. The 4 bedrooms are large enough (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs with bathrooms on each floor), and what is the best is all the rooms have beautiful lake views. The kitchen is well appointed and has all the needed items. The home was built in the 30s and is in great condition and the knotty pine, which I normally do not like, fits the home in a great way. The laws are well kept. The home has two outdoor eating areas one in the back yard and one in the front that faces the lake. There are a few stairs down to the lake and then you are on a private beach shared with other homes. We had the beach to ourselves much of the time. There is also a table and chairs on the beach. The beach is wonderful and those you share with are all very nice. I really appreicated that the home was stocked with all the needed items, soap, laundry detergent, paper towels, napkins etc. I highly recommend the property. I wasn't sure when I booked if it would be good or worth the price, but it was perfect. The home is about a ten minute drive to the closest grocery store etc. We cooked almost all our meals at home because the view at the house is better than anywhere else. The neighborhood the house is in is good for walking. We also did a number of day trips around the lake, and felt we had an excellent base for all the site seeing---but as we looked around we realized we stayed in the best place. The owners were great to deal with and were very nice. I hope to have the opportunity to return...and will always remember the beautiful home and holiday.

gorgeous location

Sawmill Harbour house is as described and even more. This unbelievably located lakefront home is a true quintessential Tahoe cabin/estate. Perfect place to while away the days and nights. It’s very comfortable while not over fussy. Kitchen as noted is well stocked. Good BBQ with easy access to kitchen. Plenty of food storage and 2 refrigerators made it easy to stock up and eat in.. Great long beach for walks and a couple hiking trails are accessible without having to get in a car. Safeway w/ a Starbucks at Zephyr Cove is 10min away, while Costco, Trader Joe’s and Walmart are all 15-20 min down the hill in Carson. But one of it’s best features are the owner/mgrs.. who are very helpful and responsive.. A perfect Tahoe holiday and a privilege to stay here. Thank you!

Hans R. Jepsen and Charlotte Lovegrove married on July 24, 1922. They had three sons: Ray and twins Bob and John. Charlotte had spent her youth summering in Glenbrook with the Hunting family, as she was helping Mrs. Hunting with her three sons. The Jepsens purchased the lot in Glenbrook in 1938 and had the house built in 1939. The family lived in Minden, but spent their summers at the lake from that point on. The house is one of the few homes in Glenbrook to remain with the original family.
