About this property

Family/dog-friendly cabin, heart of Paradise Valley, 30 min north of Yellowstone

Valley View is a unique rough-cut wood frame cabin situated in a quiet rural neighborhood at the base of Tom Miner Basin. The cabin has easy outdoor living with two porches, outdoor eating facilities, and a sunroom with large south-facing windows. Thirty minutes north of Yellowstone National Park, it has easy access and parking.

Valley View cabin can comfortably accommodate 4-6 guests, with two bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and a second living area with a sleeping option. There is a queen bed in the main upstairs bedroom, and twin bunks in the second bedroom are suitable for adults or children. A sleeping loft with an adult twin bed is accessed through the second bedroom. An additional portable twin bed can be made available in the main-level sunroom. There is a full bathroom on the first floor and a half bath on the main floor.

The advertised base fee is for up to four guests. We charge $30 per extra person per night and can accommodate six guests in total.

The main living area boasts high ceilings, rough-cut wooded beams, and framed pictures and photos taken by the owner, a Montana native. This open-plan area has an oversized comfortable couch and easy chair, a dining table for up to six guests, a smart TV, and direct access to the front porch and the kitchen. The cabin boasts numerous windows, including large southern-facing windows in the sunroom that summer renters can enjoy. One central wood fireplace keeps the main cabin toasty in the cool evenings of the shoulder seasons, and there is also an electric furnace.

The kitchen has complete amenities for your cooking needs. Includes dishware, silverware, glassware, cookware, full refrigerator & top freezer, toaster oven, oven, stove top, & double sink. Kitchen appliances include a drip coffee machine, food processor, microwave, & a range of bakeware.

The expansive lawn is well maintained, so guests must park in the designated parking area indicated in the written directions and map and by the 'park here' sign. Walking distance from the car park to the cabin is approx. 60ft.

Our cabin is a traditional rough-cut timber structure built as a much-loved and utilized second home and family holiday home. If this accommodation style suits you, it will be a fun place to stay and enjoy with family and friends. While we have screens and pest mitigations and ensure the highest cleaning standards, you are in a rough-cut timber cabin in Montana, and in every season, you may encounter the odd insect inside and out.

We do not have air conditioning, but we have ceiling and portable fans, screened doors and windows, and blinds on all our windows. You can combine these technologies to keep the cabin at a comfortable temperature. We provide information on how to do this if it is not something you are familiar with.

If you are looking for a different experience, we recommend you look for accommodations built in more modern styles and materials.

Dogs
We are a dog-friendly property and are delighted to welcome one dog per visit. This is contingent on us receiving, on booking, a guarantee from our human guests that they will ensure their pet is a considerate/low-impact house guest and adhere to our pet addendum. We ask for a $75 dog deposit per visit, which we are happy to refund $50 minus VRBO fees if we do not see evidence of dogs having been on the furniture, extra cleaning due to dog hair, or damage to the property. (One of our guys sheds like crazy, so we understand the shedding issue).

A vacuum cleaner and lint roller are available in the cabin, which you are welcome to use before you leave to eliminate excess dog hair.

Even better than described!
This cabin was the perfect retreat after long days driving around Yellowstone! We had 5 adults in our group, which included one couple, and everyone had their own space to retreat to after being together all day. Ellen had things there and available for our use that we weren’t expecting like laundry soap, extensive kitchenware and spices. She also had a notebook filled with the area recommendations. So much right at your hands! We would definitely love to go back for a longer stay next time!

Great location and gorgeous rustic experience
4 of us stayed ar the cabin and enjoyed the ristic charisma of the cabin, peace, quietness and proximity to the Yellowstone Hot Springs, Livingston, Gardiner, and the Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is very cozy, clean and very well prepared for the arival of the guest. Kitchen has everything you need from pans&pots to the seasoning cabinet. Beds are comfortable and the smell of the natural wood burning room heater nicely complements the cabin's atmosphere. The host is very attentiveand keeps you very well informed -the directions to the cabin were very detailed and we found it with no problems. Thank you for hosting us - we will be back!

Rustic feel home
Very enjoyable couple days at the house. After traveling all day it was nice to feel at home as soon as walking in the doors. We were greatest by a deer as soon as we got there. Clean and very comfortable rooms.

Darling cabin
We had a wonderful time. The cabin is remote but with the most fantastic view. It had everything we needed in the way of beds, kitchen equipment, barbque, room for animals to run, and several deer. We couldn't have asked for more.

Fantastic and Memorable
My wife and I and our two kids (8 & 12) spent 14 days here and didn’t want to leave. The cabin is set in a quiet spot with lovely views, is neat and clean and has loads of rustic charm. We spent hours on the nearby creek and on the Yellowstone , both very short walks. We also spent hours on the porch swings taking in the views, grilling, reading, and relaxing. My wife worked from the cabin the second week and adored the sunroom she called her office. The Wi-Fi is strong with no problems for anyone needing it. The cabin is very well appointed with everything and anything you could expect to need, and if you have questions that go beyond what can be answered in the comprehensive binder, Ellen and Drew are glad to answer them. They were great hosts who make themselves available. This cabin has been in their family for decades, and was built by them and has the feel of many good family times spent here. We drove from Vermont with our kids as well as our beagle and cat, both of whom were welcome there. The ideal location is just a 35 min drive to the gardiner MT entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the same to Livingston. A bridge that normally would make the trips even shorter was wiped out by the 2022 flood so expect a bumpy ride on the dirt road to paved 89, but also expect to see herds of elk, plus antelope and deer as you drive along the Yellowstone and take in the mountainviews. We could not have been happier with this cabin and it’s hosts and location.

Why they chose this property

The cabin is in a private rural neighborhood at the Base of Tom Miner Basin in the heart of Paradise Valley, 30 minutes from the north gate of Yellowstone National Park.

Valley View is named for the incredible views of Paradise Valley, Dome Mountain, and the Absaroka Mountains, which you can enjoy from the front porch. You can view Tom Miner Basin and the surrounding hills from the back porch.

After adventuring and exploring the local area, enjoy peaceful downtime in a unique area bordering Yellowstone National Park, with no access roads or crowds. There is often fantastic wildlife viewing at the top of Tom Miner Basin, a 10-minute drive from the cabin.

We are a 30-minute drive to Gardiner, the northern entrance to Yellowstone Park. Several raft companies operate from Gardiner, as well as great eating and drinking places and plenty of gift shopping.

Yellowstone Hot Springs in Corwin Springs is 20 minutes south and 20 minutes north; you can visit the historic Chico Hot Spring and enjoy a fancy dinner or a bar meal afterward. The tiny town of Emigrant, 15 minutes north on H89, with the Old Saloon, BBQ place, live music venue, and Sage Resort, offers an impressive amount of live music and good eating and drinking all year round.
