Everything in the house is top of the line and well put together. I loved the fenced parking, porch, and yard. Location was so close to downtown and interstate. Very relaxing little getaway. Also, the check in and out is simple and stress free!

We came to town for a quick visit and wedding. We didn’t get as much time as we would’ve liked at the house because of that. The house was beautifully decorated and so comfortable. We really enjoyed everything. I would stay here again and definitely recommend to anyone!

Location and neighborhood

The property itself is posted but the host intentionally does not post or show the surrounding area/neighborhood. Terrible and very unsafe. This area is actually not Mobile. We actually ended up not staying because of this. Police presence was in the area when we arrived. It was awful and the host only credited us the very small cleaning fee. We ended up actually traveling to the better part of Mobile and had to pay for a hotel. Im sure the host will have much to say about this but fair warning this property is in a terrible location. I have video of all of it.

Nice Property - Not so Nice Neighborhood

First off -the house itself is fabulous - nice inside & out! However, the location is not so fabulous. It is across the street from a bar - this was not disclosed in the description of the property. The first night ( a Monday) folks were at the bar until around 930pm - but it wasn't packed. We thought to ourselves - this won't be an issue. Woke up Tuesday to the house next door being demolished - full on bulldozers,etc at 730am. - We were leaving for the day around 830am so - again thought no big deal - they will be done when we get back for the night. Arrived back at the house at 9pm on Tuesday night - could barely get down the road - cars parked everywhere - people everywhere - the bar was hopping. This made parking an issue as the driveway was blocked by folks parked on the street. Again - we were annoyed - parked a block away - but thought to ourselves - we will wait until they close (hours said 10pm) and move our car after they close. However, we go to enter the home and the door was wide-open. We had double checked it was locked prior to leaving - and the door wasn't just unlocked - it was open. With all the construction during the day and people milling about and the open door - we left and found a hotel as we did not feel comfortable/safe in the neighborhood any longer. VRBO host did nothing but tell us it was a safe neighborhood, didn't know about construction and could call police re: parking. Did not address OPEN door at all. Did not offer to refund $ at all.

Thank you for booking The Chic Getaway and I’m beyond happy you enjoyed the house and the property within itself presented no issues to you. As for the location, unfortunately the aesthetics of the surrounding homes are out of my control, however the aesthetics are not to be confused with lack of safety. With the aged demographic, I presented the description as accurate as it is which is very quaint and quiet. As for the disengaged door lock, all guests have the onus of ensuring the doors are closed and locked upon exiting and the log shows the door was jammed which was indicated by a red light and beeping sound on the key pad. I understand you could have missed the red light; however the beeping sound was apparent. I do mention in the house rules to check for jammed locks at the door upon exiting to ensure the doors are engaged and locked as this can happen if the guests do not fully pull the door to closed position. As for any bar, there is a commercial building by the property that I have no dealings with and any activity at the commercial building is unknown to me as it is typically empty. If there was activity where people blocked the driveway, my wish is that you would have shared this to me at the immediate onset instead of after you decided to leave. When I checked the camera footage, the driveway was not blocked, there were cars parked in front of it. Please note The listing does state any issues beyond my control, 911 should be called. Thanks again for choosing us.

We try to ensure the property is accommodating to all guests that book our property; hence we enforce a non-smoking policy. When guests disregard this policy, smoke inside the house and leave weed clippings throughout the property, it makes it a challenge to keep the property free of uncomfortable smoking odors. Unfortunately we experienced smoking inside by Kelcee which was a total disregard for my property and compromised other guests health.
