Mornings here are the best part of the day. Location: steps from Dauphin Street's restaurants, coffee shops, and live music. Smart lock entry means flexible self-check-in. Free private driveway parking included. The garage is private owner space and not available for guests. The ADT security system is active. WiFi throughout. Central air and heat. Free in-unit washer and dryer. A few notes. This is a quiet, residential historic neighborhood. We ask for no parties, quiet hours after 10 PM, and no smoking inside (the deck is fine). Pets are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please ask before booking. Maximum four guests, age 25 and up, for booking. Across the street is a historic church with a small preschool; on weekday mornings, you may briefly hear children at recess, a sweet detail of the neighborhood. Mardi Gras here pre-dates New Orleans, so book early for late January and February. Welcome to Red Door Loft. Open the door, drop your bags, and let Mobile do the rest.

About the host
Hosted by Vic & Steph Baker
Vic and Stephanie are experienced hosts who care about the details. Dr. Vic is a business leader and executive coach. Stephanie is a sales executive in fintech with a passion for hospitality and design. They are avid travelers who know what makes a stay feel memorable.
Mobile is also home. Dr. Vic is the paternal grandson of Dr. Benjamin F. Baker, who served as principal of Mobile County Training School from 1926 to 1953 in the Plateau Community of Africatown, the historic settlement founded by survivors of the Clotilda. He also descends maternally from the Africatown community itself.
Owning and operating Red Door Loft is more than a rental for the Bakers. It is a chance to re-invest in the streets and stories that shaped four generations of family, and to share Mobile honestly with travelers who want to know it well.
Why they chose this property
Old Dauphin Way is one of those rare neighborhoods that still feels like a small town inside a real city. Live oaks arch over the streets. Neighbors wave from their porches. Everyone walks their dogs in the evening. Mardi Gras parades start a few blocks away.
We chose 7 Lee Street because of the trees, the sidewalks, the historic homes around it, and how walkable everything is. From the front door, you can be at coffee in five minutes, on Dauphin Street in eight, and at Cathedral Square in ten. The waterfront is a quick drive. The Mardi Gras parade route is right around the corner during the season.
Mobile is older than New Orleans and just as full of character. Once we walked these streets and saw the azaleas in spring, we knew we wanted to invest in this neighborhood and share it with travelers.
