It was a wonderful place to stay. Wish it would have been under better circumstances for us. Gregg our host opened up their house and heart to us. Allowing and inviting us to use there house as a home base for our family to gather while grieving the loss of our mother. It was a great place having ample room for our family as we remembered and shared stories of mom-grandma-greatgrandma. We are thankful. May God Bless Gregg and his family as well as all who have the oppurtunity to stay there.
Gregg was incredibly communicative and helpful throughout our stay, which made everything so easy. The cabin itself was super cute and cozy, with lots of amenities. I grew up in Crosslake, and it honestly reminded me of staying at my grandparents' cabin because they had everything you could possibly need. The fact that it's pet-friendly was a huge bonus for us!We had so much fun, and the outdoor scenery was absolutely beautiful in the winter with the snow and the lake. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing, well-equipped cabin experience.
We had a group of adults, a teen and kids. We all enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Everyone was able to spread out and have their own space. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. The hosts were very generous and quick to reply to messages. We bought some rock salt for the icy sidewalks and the owner quickly reimbursed us for that. Thanks again!
We enjoyed our stay at the Duck Lake cabin. Our whole family enjoyed the lake life, kayaking and paddle boarding, fishing and watching the sunset and wildlife.
We enjoyed our relaxing time at Gregg's place! The layout of the house worked great for our family and the views were amazing. Check-in and communication were seamless. We would definitely recommend this place!
We had a great time at the cabin on Duck Lake. October was fabulous this year with warm sunny days and cool nights. Fall colors, families of trumpeter swans and wood ducks and an occasional bald eagle made our stay special.Cabin met all of our needs and then some.
We had a wonderful weekend at the lake! The cabin was clean and so comfy, plenty of room for us (6 adults, 1 teen, 2 kids) and the yard and beach were amazing! Spent lots of time swimming off the dock area (SO nice that there’s minimal weeds) did tons of paddle boating and kayaking, and great to have the firepit just off the lake so we could run and cozy up by the fire as soon as we climb out of the lake. The property was tucked away from the busy-ness of Crosslake, yet just a couple minute drive into town for anything we could possibly need. Overall a fantastic experience!! Would definitely book again in the future.

Thank you for your very kind review. I’m so glad you had a memorable vacation!
Overall a pleasant experience and nice proximity to everything
Everyone enjoyed the home and the proximity to Cross Lake and city and amenities.
Home was comfortable and functional for everything we needed.
Thank You
The cabin was exactly what we were looking for and wanted and the host was wonderful with checking in with us to see if there was any questions/concerns and was very prompt getting back to us.
Our group of friends enjoyed the location, quiet atmosphere, and comfortable home. The property is not “perfect,” because it’s clearly been well-used by its owners over the years. it is the sort of place where you can relax and not take yourself too seriously.

With the heat didn’t get much kayaking or fires in
Tried secret path to Cross lake but horseflies found us first. That’s summer in the woods though
Enjoyed our stay plenty of room for everyone
This is a diamond stay. Amazing lake views. FULLY STOCKED SUPPLIES. AMAZING BEDS. There are not enough words to describe how amazing this gem was for our multigenerational family vacation. The water toys, the property, the fishing, all of it was amazing.

Megan- Thanks for your kind words. You and your family were a delight to host. I'm so glad you had a memorable vacation. You're welcome back anytime!
Very comfortable beds, access to much wildlife & scenic lake viewing. Heating kicked out on the colder nights and the A/C when needed was sufficient. Clean & organized. Priced right too! Great owners that responded to questions asap. Jacqueline H

Jacquenline's group was wonderful to host. A very kind, clean, communicative family. I would host them again anytime! Thanks for your rating!
Our stay at Gregg's cabin was fabulous. We had seven family members and there was plenty of room for everybody. The cabin was just as advertised, no surprises.
We enjoyed our time kayaking, paddleboarding and just sitting in the water soaking in the sun. There is ample yard space to play yard games too.
The cabin is located on a quiet lake and quiet road so our time there was very peaceful.
There was plenty of water inflatables provided and generous amounts of coffee, spices and condiments we could use. I highly recommend Gregg's cabin for a nice getaway.
My two adult daughters and I were looking for a quiet, comfortable place to spend time together. We felt very much at home, and the host family generously invited us to help ourselves to whatever was available. Greg responded immediately when there was a problem with the fridge. The mattresses were great! We enjoyed looking around the small towns nearby, especially Crosby.
A good carpet cleaning is recommended, but that's like home, too!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was very comfortably set up for our group of 7. We enjoyed Duck Lake, and liked the secret path to Cross Lake even more. At Cross Lake the swimming and fishing were just terrific.
The owners both rent and use this property, so their personal belongings are here and there but not in an discomforting way. There was plenty of shade on sunny days. And ways to find sun if you wanted it. The fire pit area was wonderful. Kitchen had everything we needed.
We loved the quietness of Duke lake! The kids (and adults!) really enjoyed the lake toys- Lilly pad, 3 kayaks, paddle boat, paddle boards and floats! Plenty to keep us ALL entertained while enjoying g the lake! We did some fishing and caught a few perch, bullheads and a northern! The home was more than enough space for us to sleep comfortably and enjoy meals together! Definitely recommend this property. The only small con was that after a day on the lake, there was only enough hot water for one of us to take a warm shower. We did quick rinses the rest of our stay- and that was just fine for us.
The property is nice, not fancy (older finishes, carpeted floors, and two shared bathrooms), well set up for families with young kids. The layout works well: four bedrooms (three with a queen or full bed; one with two kid beds) plus an extra sleeping area with three more beds, one bathroom upstairs and one downstairs, and a well-equipped kitchen. There was also plenty of firewood and we had bonfires by the lake most nights. The lake access is ideal for young kids — a sandy beach with shallow water under two feet deep all the way to the end of the dock, plus a lily pad to play on. You can see it all from the nice deck off the kitchen/dining and living room on the lake side. Nice big lawn. The water in the dock area is sandy, with some weeds further out that deeper-water swimmers will need to navigate. Access to two kayaks, a stand-up paddleboard, and a paddle boat is included. Wildlife sightings included turtles, loons, bald eagles, osprey, and even an owl. We didn't try fishing on Duck Lake but pontooned and caught several northerns on nearby Cross Lake.Just a couple suggestions: neutral 2700–3000K LED bulbs instead of the glaring 5000K ones in several fixtures, a cleaning of the upstairs sink and shower drains, and life jackets for kids above 50 lbs. And it would be nice to have an option to use or rent a boat on Duck Lake. Overall, though, it’s a great spot for a family-friendly lake trip — and we may well book it again. Thanks, Gregg!

Hello! We're Connie and Gregg. We live in Minnesota with our four children and six grandchildren. Gregg is a former teacher of 37 years and now works part time at our local library. (Gregg couldn't just retire after leaving teaching, or he would have gone crazy!) Connie works for a local non-profit after she stayed home to raise our four children. Gregg likes to bake bread, long distance biking, running, working out at the health club, and making jellies and jams. Connie is crafty and makes jewelry to sell to raise money for her non-profit. She is also an avid reader of murder mysteries. We are die-hard Minnesotans and dearly love all four seasons. We are active in our local community and in our church. We love entertaining, especially introducing friends to fondue!
Why they chose this property
Gregg's parents owned this property. After they died a few years ago he decided to keep this lovely lake home in the family. After inviting many friends to spend time "up at the lake," (and seeing how much they enjoyed this home and their time there) Gregg and Connie decided they should share this lake home with others.
What makes this property unique
Gregg and Connie maintain this property as a lake home. They use it regularly throughout the year. Therefore, our renters should feel free to use the groceries and other items found in the cupboards and refrigerators. Renters also have full access to linens and paper products. Free wood is available for the fire pit down by the lakefront. Kayaks, paddleboards, lawn chairs, and "floaties" are available too. This is a family home so help yourselves! Activities in the area: *1500 feet to the public water access on the Whitefish Chain of 14 Lakes *10 minutes to the town of Crosslake15-20 minutes to the towns of Pequot Lakes and Nisswa *Near Craguns, Breezy Point and Maddens Resorts *Quaint shops scattered all over the region! *Crosslake Community Center - tennis courts, public library *Paul Bunyan State Bike Trail *Cuyuna Lake Mountain Bike Trail *Tubing on the Pine River *Crosslake Historic Village *Northern Trackers Railroad Club *Outdoor Worship center *Crosslake Golf *Whistling Wolf Mini Golf *National Loon Center: The Nest *Jet skiing *Fawn Lake ATV Trail *Seasonal flea markets *14 Lake Craft Brewing Co. *Excellent dining at our local restaurants Fishing: Duck Lake has a lot of northern pike. Casting with a Mepps, spinners, or spoon lures works well. You also can access the south bay of Crosslake via our “secret path” through the woods. As you leave the driveway, walk straight across West Shore Drive. There is a path that will take you to Crosslake. It’s only about 100 yards long. You might be able to catch bass, sunnies, and perch. You can swim over there as well. There is also public access to Crosslake. Take a left at the end of the driveway. The public access is about 1/8 mile down on the right. Crosslake is part of a chain of lakes that gives you access to many fishing possibilities.
