Cabins Out Back - Roost. A Quiet Get-A-Way In The Texas Hill Country

The Roost has two sleeping areas, large front porch and cozy back porch

Come to the heart of the Hill Country in Fredericksburg...a place you can unwind from the city life. The fresh air and the star gazing are magnificent. See the wildlife of deer, wild birds, squirrels and our 20 pastured chickens. We are only 10 minutes from downtown, but yet you feel like you’re in another world.

Fire up the Keurig coffee maker to brew your morning coffee or tea. A full home-cooked breakfast will be delivered to your cabin between 8:30-9:00 am. Please note that we will not be able to serve breakfast on Thursday mornings Jan-May 2025. This is reflected in the Wednesday nightly rate.

The 'Roost' is a ~450 square ft. cabin with a king-sized bed downstairs and two twin-sized beds in the loft area. The cabin sleeps four. The cabin has a Kitchenette which includes a fridge and microwave. There is a bar to dine at or take your food to the front or screened-in back porch and enjoy your meal while you take in the outdoors. It also has a flat screen TV.

Peaceful and relaxing

If you are looking for a place to stay when going to Fredericksburg but want to be away from the noise of lots of people in a small town, then this is your place! A peaceful country vibe with only a short drive into town. Everything is as advertised and pictured. Breakfast was AMAZING!!! I would definitely stay here again!

We came for a girls weekend. The roost is very cute and cozy. Breakfast was amazing. Jason was easy to get ahold of and quick to respond. And oh man the stars, so beautiful and the mornings were very peaceful. Close enough to town to enjoy the nightlife, but far enough to enjoy the peacefulness of the country. 10 out of 10 woukd Definitely recommend!

Unwind in nature

Start the day with a delicious homemade breakfast and watch all the deer in a very relaxing atmosphere or go into town and visit one of the many restaurants or shops. It's a great place!

This gorgeous place is rated exceptional for a good reason - it is exceptional in any way. Quiet and secluded, yet just a short drive from historic town Fredericksburg. In the morning we were greeted by friendly chickens, in the evening we watched deer munching on the lushes grass. The cute, cozy cabin had all you needed. A super comfy bed, fully equipped kitchen and the options for dining inside or under the gazebo. Old-fashioned rocking chairs invited to relax on the porch while stargazing. Highlight of the day was the awesome, home cooked breakfast, brought up directly to the cabin. Jason is the most perfect host. Great communication, very helpful and friendly. We also had the pleasure to meet his super nice parents. This is a very special place and we had a memorable week.

Another great trip from the Cabins Out Back!

This was my second visit, and I loved it just as much. It’s nice getting away from Main Street and being able to sit on a quiet patio at night to lure one of the friendly kitties over for pets.

The Perfect Escape

This city family needed a vacation. The Cabins Out Back was the perfect answer! From our boys collecting eggs that got served to us in spectacular breakfasts to the evening porch cocktails, we settled right into country living. The location put us right in between town and the best wineries and other activities (like canoodling with elephants). AND, Jason was beyond charming and responsive. We are making plans to return! To date, one of our best ever family vacations and one we still talk about.

Amazing Piece of Heaven

Super cute cabins! Screened in back porch or open front porch. The bed was so comfy! Quiet and peaceful...a little piece of Heaven! The breakfast was amazing! Jason is a great chef and so hospitable! Every night we talked about what breakfast might be! Fresh eggs from the chickens! Fresh fruit amd fresh sqeezed orange juice! We loved watching the chickens! Absolutely amazing! We will be back and will recommend!
