Welcome to our Hi-Sierra Getaway! This cozy family cabin is located in the Plavada Woodlands, a small community on the Yuba River, it is near Sugar Bowl, Boreal/Woodward, Donner Ski Ranch, Truckee & the Yuba River.

This home includes 3 bedroom & 2 baths, plus a loft that kids love. It has an open kitchen, living and dining area, plus vaulted ceilings and a lounge area upstairs. This home is perfect for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (kids included), that are looking to enjoy a relaxing escape in the Sierras.

Hi-Sierra Getaway is a multi-level, cozy and stylish 3 bedroom/2 bathroom home. With an open floor plan the kitchen, living and dining area are set up to entertain and enjoy together.

On the main level, the great room has vaulted ceilings, a sunny kitchen, large dining area and cozy living area with a wood stove; all which opens up onto a private deck. Also downstairs is 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom, plus a large laundry room great for dropping wet gear.

Upstairs includes 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, as well as a bonus lounge area that features activities like board games, DVD’s and DVD player, a PS3, and a flat screen smart TV. Log in to the smart TV to enjoy your favorite shows and movies directly from your profile. The house has wireless internet and 2 window air conditioners as well.

In addition there is a loft that kids love! It’s accessed via a ladder in the lounge area and there is a single mattress and double mattress for a cozy sleeping option.

Guests will have access to the entire home during their stay besides one locked owner's closets. Plus a Homeowners beach, walking trails, quiet evenings and nice mountain air. Also included is a BBQ, movies, books, games and really comfortable areas to just relax.

Pride of ownership. We built this house with love and attention to detail, and we are fastidious about its upkeep.

SKI LEASE REQUIREMENTS (DEC 2024 - APRIL 2025):
- Guest pays for electric & propane usage during ski lease dates. Owner pays high speed internet, garbage, and water. Deposit required for utilities.
- For Ski Lease Season guests pay approximately $500 (prorated share) of snow plowing services for the driveway.
- Guest are responsible for shoveling deck and stairs. Guest pay for any hand snow shoveling services during their stay. These can be obtained from the snow plow provider. Inquire for more info.
- An additional $40 deep cleaning fee (to be done after end of stay) is required.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin - it had everything we needed for our relaxing family getaway. The wood burning stove was a nice feature to have while we played board games. It was a good location for us as we visited Donner Lake and Truckee.

Outstanding Rental

Everything listed about this property is accurate. It is a beautiful comfortable home and is located in a wonderful forest environment. My family enjoyed our stay very much. We found the home to be centrally located for all of the activities we planned. Richard is an outstanding host; he was easily accessible and answered any/all of our questions. I highly recommend this rental property.

Gold country locals

My wife and I came for our anniversary from just an hour from our house. When we walked in we saw the attention to detail very clean and modern with the classic cabin feel. We listened to music, a nice fire in the wood stove with wine while we cooked. Very relaxing to say the least. We are planning our next stay here to bring our 2 kids already, the kids would have a great time in the loft. We highly recommend.

Over the years, this area has had a number of new houses built, traffic has become heavier. The environment now feels residential rather than serene. But the house itself is lovely, with modern amenity.

Close to Boreal

We stayed Aug 2023. The house is close to Boreal--very convenient bc my son had skate camp at Woodward. About 25 min to Truckee for groceries/restaurants. House was perfect for us--the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking. Road noise was nonexistent with the doors/windows closed. Could occ hear the distant trains, but it wasn't loud. I saw homes in Truckee much closer to tracks. Richard was very good at communicating. FYI: Two queen beds were VERY high--i'm 5'2" and the bed was more than waist-high. i had to jump into bed or grab the headboard to climb into bed. ha! There is a step stool to assist. There is one bedroom with normal height beds--a twin and a full.

Christmas Family Fun

From check in to check out everything was perfect. The owners were quick to respond to questions and provided helpful and insightful recommendations for places to visit and eat. The home is extremely spacious and was perfect for our family of 5 (which included 2 teenagers!). The kitchen had everything needed to cook a great family meal. Can’t wait to return next year.

Perfect Family Getaway

This house was perfect for my family and I, great place to relax and enjoy Mother Nature around you by taking beautiful walks and hikes near by. There’s only 2 TVs (one in the second floor and a smaller one inside the room with the king size bed) and the WiFi was slow during our stay but to us it wasn’t an issue because we came with plans of staying off our electronics and spending our time together as a family but if you have older kids who want to spend their times on video games or watching tv this may be not work out for them. We had no problems during our stay and the home owner was very nice and has excellent communication skills and sends all the information you’ll need before your trip.

Wonderful House

We rented this house and loved it.. Everything was wonderful from the furniture to the artwork, the kitchen is stocked very well. The owner contacted us during our stay to make sure everything was ok, which I think was very nice. You really feel as if your in a friends home and not a rental home. We will be repeat renters for sure!

Great Time!

Our family stayed here for Christmas and had a great time! The location is great and there are plenty of things to do. The house is very comfortable and spacious with a wonderful kitchen. Attention to Detail!!

We stayed in this cabin for a wedding weekend at Cisco Grove. It was spacious and comprtable and perfect for my elderly parents because it had a first floor master and only a few steps to get into the cabin. Plenty of room upstairs to sleep and hang out. We did not have to use the sleeping loft but it would be really nice if you have multiple families with lots of kids. Everything you would every want or need is in this cabin. We really loved our stay!

Perfect Family Getaway

We stayed in this home with a family of eight for a destination wedding at the Sugar Bowl Resort. We were a short drive away from the resort, yet secluded enough to enjoy the beautiful setting and quietness of the mountains. My twin 7 year old daughters and 4 year old son loved the card and board games and loft space. The house is spacious yet cozy - we LOVED the fireplace downstairs. All of the amenities were excellent - it really felt like a home away from home. Thank you to Carol and Richard for a great cabin!

Perfect Home Nestled Among Pine Trees

We had a very restful Christmas at this property. I chose this property due to its closeness to Royal Gorge, this house turns out to be much much better looking than the pictures show: all furniture is real wood, all rooms are decorated tastefully, the entertainment center is equipped with modern systems and tasteful collection of DVDs for adults as well as children. Everywhere is spotless and well-lit, including the walk-in laundry room. 2 bikes and sleds, mittens are thoughtfully provided. I will definitely return for another getaway.

A perfect getaway

We rented this home last minute as a quick getaway for the holiday and absolutely loved it. It was perfect for our family (2 adults, 3 kids) and had plenty of space for both alone and together time. Great location, if felt like we were completely away from it all but was only 15 minutes to a major grocery store. The house was warm and inviting and comfortable with great internet and a great game collection. We went for long walks on the first two nights and enjoyed snow on the third. It was a great stay and we are looking forward to a return.

Perfect location for Sugar Bowl skiing

We (4 adults, 5 kids) stayed here for a ski weekend at Sugar Bowl. Loved that it was close to skiing and plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The cabin has been nicely remodeled and is pleasant to stay in. The advertisement is misleading because they didn't offer the third night free, but we would stay here again.

FANTASTIC Weekend!

My family and I had a fabulous weekend get-away! This truly is a lovely house...quiet, spacious, and well-equipped!...Not to mention, a perfect location...very near ski resorts we frequent, snow park and gas station. The owner, Alicia, is simply pleasant and very responsive which made our experience effortless and very positive. Looking forward to return again in the near future.

We love the area and had been looking for property to build; not so far away from our home that we would not enjoy it with family, and close enough for a fun weekend getaway. The property we chose became available at a time when we were able to purchase the land and build a small home to our specifications. After 2-3 years of our own sweat and tears, we were able to make that dream come true. We visit as often as we are able, but not as often as we would like, and therefore would like to share it's comfort and location with those who like to come to the slopes in the winter or just kick back and enjoy the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains in any season. We appreciate the opportunity to share our cabin with you should you decide to come stay at Hi Sierra!

Close to Ski resorts. Road is always plowed! Even when the highway is closed!! Just minutes to Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Donner Ski Ranch and Royal Gorge. Great recreational area. Homeowners access to Yuba River. Hiking, sledding and recreational activities close!

Property is connected to a green belt for cross county skiing, or walking. Yuba River very short walk. Fishing, and hiking abound. Pacific Coast Trail close.
