St. John Francis Bay 2023

The property is secluded but only 10 min from Maho bay where you will see the sea turtles in abundance. The property is excellent for a party of 8 and the common room was very spacious. We all loved the property and enjoyed the most beautiful sunsets. We will be definitely back

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family of 5 and another family of 4 rented this house together. We had more than enough room. Bedrooms have a/c and private bathrooms we stayed cool at night. Living room doesn't have a/c and can get warm they have ceiling fans and floor standing fans to help. We were only in the kitchen to cook dinner and eat. Otherwise we were outside enjoying the pool and view. Bring mosquito repellent they come out at night. Location was close to Maho beach and took about 20 minutes to get into town. Would stay here again!!

My wife and I have been to St. John many times before and we wanted to share this beautiful experience with our adult kids. The rental house is perfectly located in nature and away from most of the development. The house allows each couple wonderful privacy in their individual suites. The great room was perfect for preparing and eating meals and visiting. The pool area was very nice for relaxing.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Three families, four kids, and the house was perfect. Lots of steps, but that is St. John. Views were great! We enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen as we cooked often. Grill was brand new. Pool was great. We did have to call for bugs once, and not sure if they came. With no AC in living area we made full use of the fans as it was a hot/humid week. All in all, nice quiet location, walkable to Francis Bay beach.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’ve stayed in a wide variety of homes on STJ and this was among the nicest. The location, pool and large, air-conditioned bedrooms stand out. Walking distance to the best beach on STJ is hard to rival. It was also a quick trip to Colombo’s for an afternoon smoothie, or into Coral Bay for dinner at Rhumb Lines, or for shopping. The relentless, thick mosquitos were tough to manage. The great room was simply too hot, with underpowered fans, to use except for a quick dinner. The pool deck could benefit from more furnishings like an outdoor living room or dining to escape the heat and manage the insects. We would consider staying here again, but may pick a cooler month and bring extra insect repellant. Upgrades would help.

Little miscommunication in the beginning meeting the host to let us in caused a couple hours delay. Biggest issue was the torn screens. We had several bugs in the main area at night and could not even sit in there. We had to retire to the bedrooms. One bedroom had centipedes a couple of times along with a frog or two. Others also had bugs. It is in the middle of the jungle so I understand. Just was not that comfortable having to deal with all the bugs at night. One bathroom had a water leak I'm the ceiling so you could hear dripping at night. Place just needs some TLC to get up to par in my opinion.

It is beautiful, quiet and well-maintained. It is worth noting that the air conditioning is only in the bedrooms. The kitchen and living room can become, quite hot at sunset. The location and ability to walk to the beach was wonderful.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property is gorgeous. The main house with the kitchen, dining, & living area are not air conditioned so consider this as this is the main area for gathering as a group. The mosquitos will be out in full force being in the national park so come prepared. Do not stay out at the beach after 4pm because of the no see ums. Do some research before you come so you come with the proper essential oils to keep the no see ups at bay. The food on the island was fantastic. The house is about 25 minutes from Cruz bay & about 15 minutes from coral bay so you will need a taxi or have to drive for restaurants & markets. The property is fabulous.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My family & I have traveled to STJ every year since 1983. We have always rented homes in different bays to explore and experience different views. We have almost always booked with CATERED TO. We have found their recommendations to be for the most part honest and helpful. Our favorite has been “SEAS EDGE” - no longer for rent. We just returned back to New Hampshire from a 10 day stay at the “Francis Bay Estates” and I’ll first highlight the best things about this home followed by some things that simply missed the mark. Pros: private, safe, incredible views, walking distance to the beach, expansive patio, AC in all bedrooms, clean, beautiful pantry with anything a person would need, plenty of room, so many birds and different types of plants & flowers, plenty of room to park, the pool was clean and not to far driving to other beaches/restaurants. Cons: tons of mosquitos!! We all left with bite marks from head to toe despite keeping all the main doors shut. No shallow end in the pool: this is not a place to bring children or anyone who cannot swim. No luggage racks in any bedroom. We kept suitcases on the floors and my father who paid for the house struggled a lot trying to get his clothing. I’ve never stayed at a house without a place to put your luggage. Also, the light got the pool is broken, we wanted to swim at night and could not get the pool light to work. The long staircase to the pool is not lit up and again my elderly father who paid for the house could not get to the pool safely. Another thing not mentioned to my father when he booked was that right in front of us, a house was being built. This likely would have affected our decision as to which house we stayed at. Almost every day the builders were there. We did enjoy the view but are disappointed in the the small but important details missed at this home especially given the price my father paid.

A Wonderful Winter Getaway

There was plenty of space for everyone to spread out, as well as common areas where we shared our time. Francis Bay was just a short walk away, and the view from the patio area was spectacular! We did have a problem with the water pump on our last day, but Catered To was prompt in their response. Desmond showed up shortly after we called in the problem, and worked all that afternoon to fix it. He did a fantastic job! Thanks, Desmond! The house itself was very clean and comfortable, and we liked the location. Very quiet, yet not too far from both Coral Bay and Cruz Bay. I would absolutely consider this house for future vacations to St. John.

Very private and natural location, lends to a little more wildlife around than other villas we’ve stayed at. Rooms were all very nice and beds were comfortable, it fit our two families with four adults and five teen kids very well. We had a few minor issues with Wi-Fi and such, but Catered To was very quick to come help and fix them. The washer and dryer are absolutely tiny, so I don’t plan on doing a lot of laundry, pack accordingly. But definitely stay here again.

Beautiful Home

The property was beautiful the home was decorated lovely and the kitchen was well stocked with all utensils one would need. The beach close by was perfect for our family. The only negative issue the living, dinning and kitchen area was not air conditioned. In the afternoon this area became warm and uncomfortable especially when we were cooking and eating. Due to this problem the area was not used to it’s full potential.
