Gem House

Gem House is a great spot to discover all that Erie has to offer. With its proximity to Mercyhurst University, Gannon University Penn State Behrend, and LECOM, Gem House is a perfect spot to stay while visiting a local student or the surrounding attractions. The house is centrally located with easy access to Presque Isle, Waldameer, the Erie Zoo, downtown Erie, and Millcreek Mall. With so much to see and do, you’ll soon see why Erie is also known as the “Gem City.”

While Gem House can sleep 6, it is ideal for couples, small families, or a group of 3 or 4 friends, as it is a cozy, little Cape Cod home.

We really enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and the location was close to Presque Isle and a lot of great restaurant options and shopping. Communication with the host was great and they checked in with us throughout our visit to make sure we had everything we needed.

The space was very nice and suited our needs, but we found all the rules to be too much. Do guests really use the used socks provided? So many rules about where to put trash, towels, linens, etc. We felt like we couldn't really relax for fear of breaking one of the rules.

Nice getaway

We had a nice stay with our family. We were close to everything, including Presque Isle State Park and Waldameer Park. We enjoyed the back porch and firepit during early mornings evenings.

Wonderful

The Gem house was wonderful! We were in town for our daughters graduation from Mercyhurst University, so the location was perfect! Enjoyed the back porch both in the morning and at night! The beds were so comfortable and we loved the comfy blankets! Was a wonderful home away from home!

Senior trip!

Amazing time! Lots of board games and campfires. Appliances were all very functional and easy to use. Some doorknobs were a bit goofy, but other than that it was an amazing trip. Would rent again!!

Long Weekend Trip

Our stay at the Gem House was great. My friends & I were back in town for a college friends wedding. We are Mercyhurst alumni so it was a great location for a visit & easy access to downtown where the wedding was. The house had everything needed for a long weekend, the beds were comfortable & the backyard was perfect for a bonfire at night. We would recommend to others & would stay there again if back in town.

Trip Home

Quick trip to Erie to see family. This property is well located to all local attractions- 10-15 minutes to Presque Isle and Waldameer. House has everything you need- kitchen is well stocked. Very clean. Owners very responsive to question about entering property. Lovely back deck and yard (weather didn't cooperate with us). I would stay here again.

We loved staying at the Gem house for our little mini vacation! The location was absolutely perfect and was so centralized and close to all the activities we wanted to do. We loved having a beautiful back yard for the kids to run around and loved being able to have a bonfire! House was completely stocked with everything we needed, extremely clean, and Glee was amazing to communicate with!

We are from Orange County, California, but decided to buy a house in each of the towns where our two daughters attended college. Yes! They both left the warm California sun for very cold and snowy places! They love the change of seasons and cultures that are so different from Southern California. Our oldest daughter graduated from the University of Wyoming, so we have a house in Laramie, which is currently being rented full-time. In Erie, we decided to buy this home to rent to others looking for a comfortable and cozy spot to enjoy Erie like we do when we're visiting our Junior at Mercyhurst.

Why they chose this property

Gem House is very special to us. Our daughter attends Mercyhurst University, just 3 miles down the street. We fell in love with Erie and the surrounding areas when we first came to visit the universities in the area with her on her college tours. We bought this house as a home base for us to use when we head to Erie to visit her, and as a place for others to enjoy when we aren’t in town. We hope that you enjoy our home away from home as much as we do!
