Gem House is a great spot to discover all that Erie has to offer. With its proximity to Mercyhurst University, Gannon University Penn State Behrend, and LECOM, Gem House is a perfect spot to stay while visiting a local student or the surrounding attractions. The house is centrally located with easy access to Presque Isle, Waldameer, the Erie Zoo, downtown Erie, and Millcreek Mall. With so much to see and do, you’ll soon see why Erie is also known as the “Gem City.”

While Gem House can sleep 6, it is ideal for couples, small families, or a group of 3 or 4 friends, as it is a cozy, little Cape Cod home.

Great house for a weekend with my family. They’ve really thought of everything to make your stay convenient. My only advice is that if you’re staying in the downstairs bedroom and you don’t like a firm mattress, you may want to consider bringing a mattress topper with you.

We love staying here! This is now our home away from home! Glee is always so helpful and responsive if we have any questions during our stay. House is the perfect size for our family of 4 and grandparents! We love how equipped the kitchen is and love the backyard with fire pit! Can't wait to go back next year!

I wish I could give 10 stars for an amazing stay at this GEM of a home. Glee and Steen were exceptional hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. When the tub didn't fill for a bath, they sent us a baby tub AND a stopper to cover the drain so we had options for our kids. The house is in a great location; the busy-ish street gave us no issues and it was still quiet at night. The kitchen was well stocked and our kids LOVED the snacks that were provided. We wished we could have utilized the picturesque backyard and porch more, but maybe next time! The game room in the basement was also such a nice bonus that our kids loved- pac man was a big hit!

Clean house, hosts were quick to respond, close to everything in Erie! Great house for family of four plus mother-in-law. Only complaint was the noise from the busy road, made it hard to sleep at night but they supplied a jar of ear plugs for everyone! Thank you for a great first visit to Erie, PA!

Our stay was a 10/10. Traveled 2 hours from pgh for the bord teachers comedy show. We made the best of our stay in 2 days visited the beaches, light house, and erie zoo. This home was so cozy and clean and so close to everything and very easy to get around.

We really enjoyed our stay. The place was very clean and the location was close to Presque Isle and a lot of great restaurant options and shopping. Communication with the host was great and they checked in with us throughout our visit to make sure we had everything we needed.

The property is incredibly cute and for our families needs perfectly. The amenities are great and the game room was a very nice bonus addition. It was close to everything we wanted to do. The only reason I knocked a star is because of the trash situation. I understand taking out our own trash, but having to retrieve previous guests trash bags from the can to bring them to the street put me off a little. But other than this, all of the rules made sense and were easy to follow. And don't get me wrong, I still highly recommend this place!

We are from Orange County, California, but decided to buy a house in each of the towns where our two daughters attended college. Yes! They both left the warm California sun for very cold and snowy places! They love the change of seasons and cultures that are so different from Southern California. Our oldest daughter graduated from the University of Wyoming, so we have a house in Laramie, which is currently being rented full-time. In Erie, we decided to buy this home to rent to others looking for a comfortable and cozy spot to enjoy Erie like we do when we're visiting our Junior at Mercyhurst.

Why they chose this property

Gem House is very special to us. Our daughter attends Mercyhurst University, just 3 miles down the street. We fell in love with Erie and the surrounding areas when we first came to visit the universities in the area with her on her college tours. We bought this house as a home base for us to use when we head to Erie to visit her, and as a place for others to enjoy when we aren’t in town. We hope that you enjoy our home away from home as much as we do!
