About this property

Historic family cottage on Hamlin Lake w/ complete privacy, surrounded by nature

Snug Harbor is one of the oldest cottages on Hamlin lake, built in 1932. We are only the second family to own it. It's rustic but comfortable and will take you back to a simpler time. It's also completely private which lends itself to full relaxation. Our cottage is set up especially for families as we have a water trampoline, a zip line, a slack line, corn hole, an outdoor ping pong table, two stand up paddle boards, a paddleboat, lots of kayaks, a new dock to park your boat and almost 1,000 feet of frontage and for fishing!

Hamlin Lake has been a haven for us to unplug, enjoy nature and connect as a family. We are opening our beloved cottage to other families so that they can hopefully do the same. While this cottage is completely private and surrounded by nature, we love that it's just a short drive to Ludington, shops and restaurants, the state park, a golf course, hiking trails and the beach.

A few things to note about this property:

The driveway is a gravel 2 track road and steep. We are used to it but please be aware, to get from the road to our slice of heaven, you gotta go down the driveway :) In the summer months, any car can make it down (and then up) the hill. In the winter months, a truck is best.

The kitchen is small but we do have all the basic kitchen necessities as well as a griddle for pancakes in the morning, a Keurig with coffee pods ready to go and a Berkey water filter (although the water is completely safe to drink we also love our Berkey!). Most nights we grill outside on the back deck while watching the kids fish and the sun begin to set. Note: there is not a dishwasher.

On the first floor there are 3 bedrooms, a living area, a bathroom and the small kitchen. There's also a screened in porch with a couch and large dining table. Upstairs there are five twin beds but no bathroom. Decor is modern cottage and cozy.

We LOVE it here and want your family to love it too. We'll do whatever it takes to make your stay wonderful. Just let us know!

Private with lots to do.
Very private setting. Lots of activities and great fishing. Owners are very helpful and friendly. Owners provided us with a few extra goodies that our kids loved. Highly recommend.

First time on Hamlin
We had a wonderful stay at Snug Harbor on Hamlin Lake. Our family, including our three teen boys, loved the kayaks and hammocks and water trampoline, and fished off the dock most days. We made hot dogs and s'mores over the fire, and buzzed into town for our traditional favorite Ludington activities. And we slept well each night with all the wonderful lake air! Our only regret about our stay was that it wasn't longer.

Great vacation!
Private, great location, appealing inside, & great hostess, This is one of the finest, true vacations, we ever experienced. We have been coming to Ludington for over 60 years. This was the most relaxing vacations we had since coming here, in all regards. And fishing was great. Even caught 2 "Master Angler" entries in the Hamlin Lake contest. In the past we have taken advantage of going to the State Park, Lake Michigan, and downtown. This year, we did very little of that. The location, the accommodations, the attractive inside décor, mixed with the old and updated, were incredibly done, extremely nicely. It was a truly wonderful experience.. The hostess and host were incredible! They went above and beyond. They stocked us with needed items, and above, for our stay. It was unlike in a wonderful warmness and touch than we ever had ever received. Perhaps the best recommendation we can give is that we would love to return to this place. We were very comfortable, relaxed, and the relationship with the hostess & host was beyond expected and so much appreciated. Best time ever! We can't say enough. Exceeded ALL expectations.
