Welcome to Highbearnation Retreat, your home away from home while you enjoy the Great Smoky Mountains! You'll be a short drive from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and all the wonderful fun they offer, as well as the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Whether you're planning some amusement park fun, world class shopping, or soaking up some Vitamin D while you're out in the mountains, you'll be close to your home away from home where you can rest, restore, and renew yourself for the next big adventure!

STARTER SUPPLIES:
We provide starter supplies for our guests: Salt & Pepper, Cooking Spray, Trash Bags, Dishwasher Pods, Dish Liquid, Hand Soap, Laundry Pods, (2) Rolls of Paper Towels, (2) Rolls of Toilet Paper per Bathroom, Kcups & Creamers, Coffee Filters. All other cabin supplies, as well as any that you run out of, you will need to be provide. We DO NOT supply fire wood.

INTERNET: & TV
Internet/ TV: We provide high speed internet via Starlink, which will allow you to stream ON YOUR OWN PLATFORMS. We do not cover the cost of any programming resulting in additional charges to us. If you purchase movies or any other programming, you will be charged for those purchases.

ACCESS:
Your drive to the cabin will be one of the most beautiful in Tennessee. You'll be on paved roads almost all the way with only the last few hundred feet being gravel. The paved part of the drive will be curvy and steep in places, as it is with most cabins in the area. There is one turn on the route where a car that sits close to the ground might scrub. Please note that this cabin is in the mountains where the terrain is considered steep.

NOTE: We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover your stay. We do not refund due to inclement weather, unexpected illness, fear of driving on roads, etc.

The cabin was great and all was well but the drive to get to the cabin was less than desirable, especially the last road that was not paved and very hard to find. We passed it and had to go all the way around to get back to it.

Great weekend away!!! We saw two bears @ cabin!!! Cabin was very clean and we loved the TVs for watching ncaa basketball. Host was great!!! Only suggestion is new couch as current not really comfortable. Still, great cabin!!

Family Vacation

Great location that was secluded and quiet, yet a short drive to great hiking locations and entertainment! It was just what we were looking for! The cabin was clean, adorably furnished, and stocked with everything we needed. There was also a great informational guide to local eateries and attractions. So helpful! The host was easy to communicate with and quick to reply. We had a great stay and would definitely stay again!

Nice relaxing cabin in the woods

This was a wonderful, relaxing cabin for our family vacation. The hot tub was fabulous! There's no cell service and the wifi is very weak, so don't depend on it. We had to go down into town to use cell service to open a web page to buy tickets for an activity.

Great Cabin!

Overall, the stay was great! My review does reflect that, but there are a few items that were not mentioned that I feel needs mentioning. The cabin is very secluded, which was amazing and exactly what we were looking for. We stayed 5 days and saw bears 3 different days there. When we pulled up there was a mother and a cub just in front of the porch. One morning a lone bear scoped out the garbage container and then walked past the porch and then one evening after turning into the driveway there was a mother bear and 3 cubs walking up the drive foraging for food. We saw more bears there than in Cade's Cove! It was very nice having king beds to sleep in, but we all found the mattresses very stiff. It took me a couple days of poor sleep to get used to them. Also, the cabin is on well water, I grew up on well water so not an issue for me but there is a distinct smell/taste to it is something I think should be noted prior to booking. We purchased bottled water for drinking. The cabin is roughly this far of a drive from the main destinations: 30 min to Pigeon Forge, 45 min to Gatlinburg, 25 min to Cade's Cove, 75 min to Clingman's Dome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a great time exploring the Smokys!

We live on a farm in Bristol, Tennessee with my best pal and companion, Tucker (a five-year-old German Shepherd), a herd of cattle, and tons of other wild critters who roam the hills and fields at will. We love to travel, see new places, try food we've never tasted, and see all the beauty this world has to offer.

When we're not working, I love baking cakes, taking pictures, and hosting weddings on our farm. Matt loves scoping out new restaurants for us to try, scouring social media for some comic relief, and finding new ways to keep everyone laughing. We're big fans of antique stores, hiking trails, and going off the beaten path.

We're dedicated to providing you with a wonderful stay that inspires you to return again and again.

From the two of us to you and yours, have the time of your lives, and soak in all the fun, laughter, and memories you can possibly create while you stay in our little piece of Heaven.

Why they chose this property

Growing up in Bristol, Matt and I were both from families that visited the Smokies often - at least once or twice each year. With Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the surrounding areas being just a couple hours' drive away, it was a fun trip but still almost an extension of home. As adults, it's still the same. We come to the area regularly, and we love the Wears Valley area the most. It is so close to everything but allows you to get closer to the natural beauty of the Smokies, enjoy a more private setting, and still have access to yummy food, fun entertainment, and necessities. When we found this cabin in the woods, we knew it was the perfect place to share what we've loved about the Smokies since we were kids. We just know you're going to love it, too!
