A month in Paris
We had a wonderful time in Paris!! Our original booking was abruptly cancelled one month prior to a June trip that had been reserved the previous November. As we had friends and family visiting throughout the month, we had to find somewhere that would accommodate all of us. We ended up in a different part of the city and paid ~6 K more than our original booking ….but glad that we had a place on short notice. The agent and his assistant (David and Janice) were very kind and helpful. The property in the 8th Arr was in a nice neighborhood, but needs a significant amount of work. There were plumbing issues, broken appliances, peeling wallpaper, stained and torn cushions on chairs, frayed curtains, and markedly uncomfortable furniture. The kitchen had plenty of dishes and silverware, thought no wine glasses (when drinking wine in Paris, you need wine glasses not juice glasses) and essentially no usable cookware until David and Janice provided us with 2 new pans which were very helpful. They also brought in 3 fans that were extremely useful to all of us and used daily. The Wifi worked marginally in parts of the house. It was quite slow but acceptable for texts and emails without files. There was no service in the kitchen which was a common meeting and work area. Curiously, there was a Wifi booster in the kitchen but not usable as the password was unavailable. Very frustrating! On a positive note, the apartment is light, airy, quaint, and feels very large. I would give 3.5 stars.
