About this property

A fully modernized charming family owned cottage, located in a beautiful landscape only one hour drive from Reykjavík.

The cottage is 60 square meters, with three bedrooms and sleeps 5 people. The master bedroom has a 160 cm double bed. Second bedroom has a bunk bed (120 cm and 90 cm). The third bedroom has 120 cm bed and a 40 inch flat screen. The bathroom is very bright with white tiles, big mirror and a shower. The kitchen, dining area and the living room are in an open space. Kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, oven, fridge, freezer, coffee machine etc. The living room has a fireplace, sofa, relaxing rocking chair and our guests can connect to a bluetooth speaker. From the living room is a beautiful view over Lake Þingvellir. The cottage has a central heating all year round.

At the terrace around the cottage is a Weber grill and a seating area with chairs and table. From there you can enjoy the view over Lake Þingvellir and the surrounding mountains with spectacular sunsets and the Northern Lights. In the garden there is a play area with a trampolin and and a football pitch in the summertime. Parking in front of the cottage has space for 2 cars.

All the major nature pearls in South Iceland - Gullfoss and Geysir, Þingvellir National Park, Langjökull Glacier, Kerið crater, Friðheimar tomato farm and Laugarvatn are all in the neighbourhood. The nearest supermarket is in 20 min drive from the cottage, at Laugarvatn

Conveniently located for a day´s trip to Landmannalaugar, Thorsmork, Skógafoss waterfall, Háifoss waterfall, Thjórsárdalur valley, Vatnajökull glacier, Skaftafell national park and Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon.

For nature lovers

Cosy and calm cottage with panorama view. Close to the Pingvellir national park for hiking. Also a great base to reach the attractions of the golden circle, the south coast or the Reykjanes peninsula. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Cosy, beautifully located home

We had a wonderful & memorable 3 night stay at Hergill's cottage. Hergill is a wonderful host and was very responsive to all our needs. The cottage is well equipped with 3 bedrooms and spacious beds to comfortably accommodate our family of 4. The decor is very tastefully done with nice windows that overlook the beautiful Thingvellir lake. The temperature in the rooms was perfect and can be regulated through an air unit. The kitchen and bathroom are functional and well stocked. The Internet is fast and accessible. We loved the fact that the charge was so centrally located- all the must see locations such as Geysir, Gulfoss,Thingvellir & Kerrid are a short drive away and the Southern Coast is also not too far off. In short, we had a great time at the cottage and would love to come back. Highly recommended.

Awesome place with an amazing view

My husband and I have stayed at many rentals over the years and this was by far the most pleasant experience we’ve had. First, Hergill was an amazing host. He was easy to communicate with, accommodating, and most of all incredibly friendly. The place was spectacular and actually ended up being better than the pictures. It’s a cozy cottage, and while it was just my husband and I, it could easily have fit 5 guests. The cottage was clean, everything in working order, had a gas grill that we made daily use of, and my personal favorite was the view. Each morning I would get up and go stand on the back porch just to see the view; it was spectacular! The cottage is also perfectly placed along the Golden Circle so we were able easily make multiple stops along the way. It’s also only a 1-2 hour drive to other hotspots along Southern Iceland, and with the sun shining most of the day, we got to see so much. My husband and I plan on visiting Iceland again and we would not hesitate to book with Hergill!
