Private Beachfront Lighthouse Just Steps to Ocean - Featured on HBO and Dwell
Featured in Dwell Mag. Welcome to Katie's Light, our classic New England style home in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island. Enjoy this 3-bedroom, 2.5 bathroom beachfront escape with a wrap-around deck and uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean. Only steps to the sand through your own private access through the dunes. Watch the dolphins swim along the coast or walk the Egan's Creek to spot migrating birds. Just 5 minutes to historic downtown with great local restaurants and shopping year round.
Katie's Light is an Amelia Island landmark. Built by wooden-boat builders in the 80s' the home is an homage to the Lighthouses of New England.
The house sits on stilts and has space for up to 4 cars to park. A deck at the bottom of the main stairs has an outdoor shower and foot washing station. Our beach toy cabinet filled with boogie boards, skim boards and various sand-castle building tools is also on the deck for easy beach access.
Up the stairs you will find our 360-degree wrap-around deck with Adirondack chairs and tables, the perfect place to spend the day.
The main floor of the house features an open-floor plan. Inside, the kitchen features a new four-burner stove and oven, large refrigerator and freezer and dishwasher. As fellow coffee lovers we also have included a drip coffee machine, french press and Bialetti Moka pot. The dining room has huge table with seating for 8 to easily get the whole family around.
Downstairs, you will also find our TV and library nook. A 50-inch Samsung smart TV and soundbar is out of the way of the main living space so the house doesn't get taken over if somebody is watching a movie. The nook also holds our library collection with tons of great books including mystery novels, American classics and even our photo books of classic Florida and architecture.
Downstairs also has a half-bath, open living room with a super cozy couch and chairs and desk for writing emails if you need. With wifi speeds of 600mb download streaming and work is easy.
A center spiral staircase connects the upstairs where the three bedrooms are. All three bedrooms have king-sized beds. One bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. The other two rooms share a bathroom. We've recently renovated and put all high-end bedding, linens and furniture in.
Beach front living at it's best. One of the coolest and most original homes on the island.

We have stayed here numerous times and always enjoyed it. The only negative is the poor lighting in the bathrooms. Needs to be upgraded!

Hi Gary,
Thank you for the review. The lights in the bathroom are new and on a dimmer switch, I think you may have needed to turn the dimmer up so it was brighter in there. They are quite bright when all the way up.
We hope you visit again!
my husband, another couple and myself stayed here for New Year’s Eve for four days. The place was very clean and close to the ocean. We spent most of our days shark tooth hunting. And visited the local town for wonderful meals, We hope to return one day.
We have been staying at Katies light for over 20 years, it's always been a great stay -perfect beach close to the village and its attractions/restaruants
This property was an excellent stay. Host communicate well, check in was smooth, property was exactly as advertised, and location was amazing! Hope to have to opportunity to come back and stay again.
Stayed at this gem on Fernandina Beach over Labor Day weekend. Stayed with my sister’s family to attend a local reunion. Perfect location on island and view of the beach. House is beautifully redone and hosts are attentive.
From the moment we arrived my family was smitten with this beautiful home. Uniquely decorated and very well appointed. Oceanfront views with all the beauty you'd expect. Our family has enoyed several ocenfront stays at Amelia; this is our favorite!
We stayed for 3 weeks everything was absolutely perfect. This is about our 10th stay over 17 years. As usual…. Wonderful to be on the beach in this cozy place.
This is an amazing property, like a quaint Maine cabin right on the ocean! I just can't tell you how much we enjoyed. Perfect for six, great beds, shower, well stocked with nice plates, silverware, books, games, blankets, pillows.
We will be back for sure
House was a really clean nice place they should just let you know its not really insulated that well. When we arrived it was 50 in the house and never raised above 56 on first floor 2nd floor was nice and toasty. Thermostat is definitely in wrong spot clear as day. Other than that amazing place truly. I wonder how it will be in summer heat. There poor power bill must be ridiculous.
We loved every minute of it but If you have a toddler I do not recommend because of the spiral staircase. It was scary going up and down with the baby.
Comfortable and clean with high end amenities and charming Maine cottage vibe. Nice deck view, convenient beachfront, and a thoughtful, eclectic library. Only slightly unpleasant surprise was the close proximity to house next door. I and all my guests loved the house and would definitely stay there again.
I fell in love with this property the minute I walked ithrough the door. The property is gorgeous and professionally decorated even the smallest details. I have never been in a rental with so many extras available to the renter. I will return again to Katie's Lighthouse.
2 nights was not enough time to enjoy this experience named after a New York lighthouse keeper "Mind the Light, Kate." From 1890 to 1919, Kate Walker did the work of 3 men as she saved many lives from being shipwrecked. Her life was hard unlike the comfortable, well appointed quasi replica with outstanding view of beach and ocean. Travelers will be transported.
We had a great stay! The property manager was completely proactive in making sure our stay was pleasant and comfortable. She completely understood that our stay would be impacted by a city lead work project occurring. She immediately contacted us, offered her apologies abs made sure we were still okay with moving fairways with our reservation. I would absolutely recommend reserving this home for your next vacation! Thanks again for a wonderful stay.
