About the host
Hosted by Eric & Elle Aasness
Eric and Elle are local hosts and love our Hood Canal. We love fishing, crabbing, shrimping, diving (well, me not Elle), hiking, and just sitting on the deck watching the ever-changing scenery. It's amazing that so many people have never heard of Hood Canal! First off, it's not a canal, it's a 70-mile long fjord, coming off the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean. It's packed with wildlife including salmon, seals, sea lions, otters, elk, and lots of oysters. And it's located at the base of the Olympic Mountains, host of amazing hiking.
Why they chose this property
This property is situation about as close to the water as you can get. 4 steps take you to the oyster-packed beach. Salmon swim past on their way to the Skokomish river, orcas cruise by, and you may get a visit from a curious harbor seal or otter. Our cabin was completely remodeled Spring 2026, so take advantage of a brand-new beach-front getaway and enjoy the best of the Pacific Northwest.
What makes this property unique
It's a no-bank home just feet from the beach, with a view to the East towards the "great bend" of Hood Canal. On clear days, Mount Rainier peaks out in the distance. The beach is covered with oysters. We have a mooring buoy, and a swim raft in the summer. Kayaking is great right from the beach, and we provide 2 kayaks. You can scuba dive from the property as well, and there a renowned dive shop located less than a mile away. Famous dive sites in the area include Octopus Hole and Sund Rock. For boaters, there is a boat launch 2 miles away, and a fuel dock at Union Marina, about 2 miles across the bay.
