I'm an Interior Designer with 30 years experience designing and remodeling a variety of homes on the beach and elsewhere. This beach home reflects my vision of the ideal Michigan Lake property. It is an airy home enhanced by some of my art collection.
In the summer I like to fill the many flower boxes on the deck railings with a variety of flowers that attract humming birds, cardinals, chickadees and other beautiful birds.
I enjoy the purity of the air, and the foliage of the trees and shrubs that surround the home.. Almost every day at least one or more deer come to visit our home and to eat the flowers. We chase them away when they eat the flowers because I love the flowers and spend a lot of time planting and caring for them.
One of the things that I really like are the amazing sunsets with the brilliant colors sinking into the lake.

Why they chose this property
We spent a lot of summers in Pentwater when the children were younger in rental cabins around Bass Lake close to Lake Michigan. So, when a property became available on Lake Michigan we snatched it up and are really happy that we did.
This beach house combines the best features of the ideal beach house - wonderful Lake Michigan view, private beach at bottom of stairs from lake side deck, hiking trails through the surrounding woods, within a half mile (walking distance) of the charming New England like village of Pentwater (no traffic lights) with a smaller lake, Pentwater Lake, that invites the sailors who do not want to brave Lake Michigan. Our private beach adjoins Mears State to the south.
One of the features that we really liked was that the the Living room has an 8'x10' picture window that affords a great view of Lake Michigan, the flower boxes on the deck railings and the humming birds that feed on the flowers.
The lake side deck has two umbrellas to provide shade from the sun in the afternoon and evening. A 9" long rustic dining table on the deck can seat 8 people comfortably. For general get-togethers there is a bench attached to the deck railings that can seat additional people.
The patio features a gas grill for those who enjoy grilled steaks, chicken, fish and other game.
Parking is available on our driveway close to the house and also just off the road to the left of the driveway.

What makes this property unique
The beach house is just over a 4-hour drive from Chicago which is far enough to discourage many travelers but not those that own homes there or regularly rent homes in Pentwater.
There are no traffic lights in Pentwater.
Three ice cream parlors and three pubs cater to the local and visitor tastes and there are four churches to take care of the souls of all.
Every Monday and Thursday there is a farmer's market on the village green where you can buy reasonably priced locally grown produce, fruit, eggs, and plants.
I July you can go and pick you own blue berries They taste really sweet, big and juicy. Kids love the idea of picking the blueberries and eating them as they go. There are other farms where you can pick strawberries, apples, peaches, cherries and other fruit.
A couple of big events are the wooden boat show and the antique car show. In nearby Hart there's the famous Miss Asparagus competition. And we can't leave out the homecoming parade in August
Boat rentals and fishing charters are available in town at the Pentwater marina.
EveryThursday on the village green there is a free concert by the local brass band.
There is. a large Meijers grocery store in Ludington - about 15 miles north of Pentwater and a smaller grocery store, Hansens, about 10 miles south of Pentwater in Hart
