About this property
Cozy and private lakefront cabin -- perfect for large groups & family reunions!
Nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains is your North Country getaway. Come make some memories at The Cabin at Effley Falls. Beautiful, secluded, cozy and private. Thoughtfully designed and well stocked with amenities. Perfect with large families, family reunions, lots of children, friends trips, and more. Two acres directly on the water. A relaxing lake vacation with all the comforts of home --- come up to get away. Completely refurbished in 2022. Sleeps 18.
The main house has 2 queen bedrooms, 1 queen loft, a bunk room that sleeps 6, and a second loft that has 2 twins. A large front porch, screened porch, sleeping porch, small office space, living room, kitchen, dining room.
In addition, we have an apartment that has 1 queen bed, two twin beds, and a living room and a full bathroom. Comfortably accommodates 18 people (May - October) In October we close down the apartment for the winter. If booking November-April, the main house sleeps 14.
All bedding and towels (bath + lake) are provided. Extra blankets and extra sheets are also provided. There is a washer and dryer at the cabin, along with laundry soap.
Gas stove, refrigerator, dishwasher. Fully stocked kitchen with cooking utensils. Coffee maker and french press, blender, portable griddle, crockpot, baking sheets, toaster, spices.
An ample amount of wood will be provided for the wood stove and fire pit.
Brand new in September 2024: Wood-fired hot tub.
We are located directly on the lake with a large deck, dock, and swimming dock. A fire pit with eight Adirondack chairs, a long private road perfect for walks. Outdoor grill, kayaks, canoe, pedal boat, two paddle boards. Outdoor bar, volleyball and badminton net. Great fishing for smallmouth bass & pickerel. Kayak over to a sandy beach area & rope swing on the northwestern part of the lake. Effley Falls Pond is a lake on The Beaver River Canoe Trail, you have direct access to the route. Swim, sun or just relax under the hemlocks -- truly a peaceful and private getaway.
Located 3 hours NW of Albany, 2 hours NE of Syracuse. There's plenty to do at the cabin, although one of our favorite things to do is nothing at all. Canoe, kayak, watch the birds, watch the stars, swim. Play board games, play volleyball, do a puzzle. Curl up on the sleeping porch with your favorite book, or grab one from our shelves. Make dinner, make dessert, make a fire, and definitely make s'mores. Sunbathe or snowshoe. Catch fireflies or smallmouth off the dock.
Croghan and the surrounding areas have many snowmobile trails. There are many access trails to Tug Hill. Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, tubing, etc in Lowville, Watertown, and Old Forge.
TO NOTE:
*You must have four wheel drive if staying at the cabin in the winter months. We are located at the end of a private gravel road. Our road and driveway will be plowed for you.
*Our cabin’s main source of heat is a wood burning stove. When renting September through June, please be prepared to supplement the cabin’s fuel oil heat with making, and maintaining, a fire as your main source of heat. Firewood will be provided.
*For renters using our apartment: there is no heat source. The early spring and late fall months can be unpredictable as far as weather/temperature goes. Apartment is only available May through October.
*Hot tub is seasonal and only available May through October.
*Two-twin loft only accessible by a ladder. Most often used by children or teens.
*The Cabin has two security cameras outside. One on garage facing the road and driveway entry, and one on the back of main house facing the lake. These cameras are used strictly for security and liability purposes and in no way will infringe on our guest's privacy.
