A great place to rest our heads after a long day of hiking! The Glad Cottage was the perfect size for the two of us and our dog, though keep in mind it is tiny! It was clean, the kitchen was modern, and the cabin itself was cozy and welcoming. We had our own fire pit and deck which was a great bonus, plus lots of space to walk our dog.
Great getaway spot within driving distance of hiking trails
The location was remote and quiet, there was much privacy and the amenities were great, understanding hosts. Would stay again if given the chance! Thank you!!
Fantastic stay for Shenandoah hikes. Make sure to shop before hand because grocery and gas are quite far, but the property is beautiful and has many little critters running about near the main clubhouse (i.e., kitties of many kinds and a massive duck as well). The grill is a George Forman but it still worked as well as we needed for basic hot dog and burgers for dinner. Overall great experience and will absolutely book again if we return for more hiking!
Love this cottage! Great place to go with your partner, the cottage provides a lot of privacy while also being very close to communal buildings on the property. My Pug loved watching the deer in the front yard! Can’t wait to make this a regular getaway for my family.
Great privacy and cottage. Our only issue was the bathroom. It was clean but very outdated. The shower was very small. Other than that it was good.

Disliked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Listing said there was a hot tub, but there was none, the listing said there was a fireplace inside, but there was none. The amenities were too far to the next building to even enjoy and difficult to find at night time, but the bed was very comfortable and the patio was nice. I will not go back, as per my video there was a huge trash pile in the back. There was an outdoor fire pit as the listing said however, by the time we checked in, it was so dark in the backyard we could not find it, and it was extremely tiny with only three logs available.
A very charming and relaxing getaway. The atmosphere was peaceful and inviting—perfect for a short escape. I felt completely at ease and truly enjoyed my time here. I’ll definitely be coming back.
The Glade Cottage is rustic but well The WiFi worked well and gives a modern touch to an otherwise off the grid feel of the secluded property. The highlight of our stay was the lunch time cooking class with Kumud. She was a great host that not only taught Indian cooking techniques but so much about the culture as well. The food and conversation were amazing. I would encourage anyone to book a stay and a cooking class!
Such a beautiful serene location and definitely a home away from home! Everything was seamless and easy. Location was quiet and breathtaking! Definitely recommend if you're looking to get away and just enjoy nature and find some peace!
The cottage is so adorable and cozy. The kitchen is really complete and the house has a room with a sofa and big television that it is really usefull. It is really relaxing. Also i been here with my dog and he enjoy a lot the little around .wood
My wife and I stayed for four days. It was a bit difficult to find at first, but once we followed the directions, we had no issues. We had a great time relaxing and visiting some wineries and breweries. The bed and sofa were comfortable. The internet was a little slow, but that was expected. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!
We enjoyed our short stay at Glade Cottage! We were within reasonable distance to some good hiking trails at Shenandoah National Park, restaurants, and breweries (Lafayette Inn & Restaurant/Fiorano/Elkton Bewing Co.)! The bed was comfortable and we were able to sleep soundly without any issue. Overall, it was a nice weekend getaway!
Thanks!

Overall pleased with this location. Peaceful and quiet. Not so far out that you couldn’t arrange for some meals at some nice restaurants. Never physically spoke with anyone and booked through VRBO. The cottage was nice but could use a new couch. Wood stove sauna was a hit!
The location was secluded and peaceful, but the photos on the VRBO listing gave us the impression all amenities would be available to use. The paddleboat was inaccessible due to weeds/overgrowth, and was filthy. We couldnt get to it. e "party boat" with the wooden 2nd deck & rung electric lights was dirty, with sleeping quarters on the lower deck that had been exposed to winter elements/open cabin doors for awhile. Life preservers were on the ground, very old looking and unusable. We had envisioned enjoying evenings on the deck while music played from below, or something similar. The music was not advertised but we felt it was a reasonable expectation. The Cottage was adequate but tiny, as expected. The bathroom window shade was in bad disrepair upon arrival, with several 'slats' broken or missing. Shower curtain hooks were missing. The kitchen offered 1 teaspoon, 1 tablespoon, a few knives and forks. The kitchen lighting is soft, so it is challenging to read fine print (such as ingredient labels/cooking instructions). The grill, which we expected to be a small propane option, was an electric George Foreman on a pedestal, on the outside deck, about 12" x 16". The area was very private and we enjoyed sitting on the deck listening to the birds and other sounds of nature. "Resort" & "spa" convey high end indulgence, paying attention to details."Retreat" seems to be a more accurate description of the property. We did enjoy our stay, but the photos on the listing are deceiving.
