About this property
Enchanting Cabin close to N. Conway Kayaking, Hiking, Skiing
*Wolf Lodge - Fryeburg, ME* Tucked away in picturesque Fryeburg, Maine - home of the Fryeburg Fair - this four-season cabin is a soulful, well-loved retreat full of creativity, warmth, and storybook charm. It’s a place where kids climb into the handmade log loft bed, draw freely on the chalk wall, and warm up by the fire or enjoy a movie night on the 85” tv after a day spent in the beautiful outdoors this region is known for.
Explore the nearby 50,000 acres of the White Mountains in Maine, where you can enjoy everything from skiing to hiking, kayaking to swimming, and much more.
Conveniently close to North Conway shopping, Storyland, Mt. Washington, and the Magic Lantern in Bridgton, you'll find countless lakes, ponds, trails, and attractions nearby.
SKIING: Pleasant Mountain (Shawnee Peak) is closest, about 11 miles away. Also nearby: Cranmore Mountain Resort (25 minutes), Attitash Mountain Resort (35 minutes), Bretton Woods, (45 minutes), Loon Mountain Resort (about an hour), Sunday River (about an hour).
FAMILY FUN: Storyland is about 35 minutes away and UberBlast, Conway Scenic Railroad, Mt. Washington Valley Children's Museum are about 20 miles away.
OUTDOOR misc: Saco River Canoe and Kayak Rentals (5 minutes), Mountain Division Trail (access right across Portland St.), Jockey Cap Trail (5 minutes), Hemlock Bridge (18 minutes), Mt. Tom Preserve - The Nature Conservatory (8 minutes), Mt. Tom Trail (11 minutes)
OUTDOOR WATER: Public access to Lovewell Pond (1.5 miles) Close to Saco River, Pleasant Pond, Kezar Pond, Weston's beach, etc.
CULTURAL: Located in downtown Freyburg is the Fryeburg Academy Performing Arts Center and Bradley Park, which sometimes has outdoor performances. Just a short distance away from the Denmark Arts Center and the Stone Mountain Arts Center.
Inside Wolf Lodge, you'll find a cozy and charming atmosphere. The cabin is an artist-designed, rustic, 3-bedroom log home. Your kids - or the kid inside you - will love exploring the home with clever and enchanting details you won't find in a typical hotel / home stay. It’s imperfect in the most perfect way! You'll immediately notice the barn wood details and 18th century wavy glass windows when you enter the home. There's an old farmhouse sink, a 1930's science lab table custom made with turtle shell feet, and an old phone booth turned into storage cabinet in the kitchen. The master bedroom and bathroom are on the first floor. The other two bedroom and bathroom are on the second floor. One of the upstairs rooms features a custom-built log loft bed and is stocked with art supplies. Expect character, creaky charm, and signs of a life well lived! Some surfaces and vintage furnishings show their wear, which we find to give it all its character. We have a tv in the living room and every bedroom, but you might not need them. In addition to our beautiful yard, we offer board games and books, and there's a chaise lounge with a reading light...
Pour your favorite drink in a mug and enjoy the cabin in the woods in Maine!
THINGS TO NOTE:
We are a NON SMOKING household.
DOG FRIENDLY: We are a DOGS WELCOME CERTIFIED PROPERTY. We allow up to two dogs, and more dogs may be possible with prior authorization. We don't charge any extra for pups unless there's additional cleaning or damage. Due to allergies, we cannot allow cats or other animals on the property.
Our cabin is perfect for:
Adventurous travelers who appreciate authenticity,
Families with kids who love imaginative play,
Creative souls, artists, and writers,
People who value warmth, story, and uniqueness over newness.
This cabin may not be right for:
Guests seeking luxury finishes or hotel-level polish,
Those uncomfortable with older homes or rustic detais
Rental is for the entire home except the basement, unless you're using the laundry. There is also a driveway and large yard for use. The artist shed in the yard is not accessible at this time. As of Fall 2025, our hot tub is up and running! It's not listed as an official amenity, more of a bonus! And we will send you specifics with waiver for use.
We won't be on the property, but will be reachable if needed to answer any questions.
We are on an unincorporated road, in a private subdivision. You will definitely be in the woods, but we do have neighbors. You can access the division trail directly across Portland St, it runs about 8 miles total. We are about 1.5 miles from public access to Lovewell Pond, about 2 miles from the 302 West Smokehouse Tavern and the Fair Grounds Coffee Shop, and a little over 3 miles to the famous Fryeburg Fair, which takes place in October every year.
The refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave are on the small side...and since the home is set up for short stays, it isn't a cause for concern, but something to be aware of as you plan your stay. What we lack in refrigerator, we make up for with an 85" Smart TV in the living room!! There are also tvs in each bedroom and they all come on with some kind of smart screen, and the house has Spectrum internet wifi service. You're welcome to use the guitar, too.
We do have a washer and dryer in the basement that you are welcome to use; otherwise the basement is currently used only for our storage. There's a new mini-split heating/cooling system in the house and you'll definitely want to bring some slippers or fluffy socks for the tile and wood floors in the winter time! We have coffees, teas, sugars, sweeteners, honey, some spices and condiments, loads of toiletries, as well as extra sheets and towels available. The kitchen is well stocked with sturdy pots, pans, bakeware, silverware, and other kitchen tools. We have been updating and adding photos as we go. If there's anything we have forgotten at the cabin or have forgotten to list, let us know!
We're fine with you having people over for a casual dinner or get-together, but we can't allow parties or anything that would disturb our neighbors. Also, please note that we can only accommodate up to six guests overnight due to limited supplies and our well/septic system.
Please be aware that our house is not toddler-proof. If you have young children, please exercise caution and use your own discretion.
We may allow commercial photography or video shoots on a case-by-case basis, but there may be additional fees.
Although we have modern amenities, please keep in mind that we are in the woods and internet service can be spotty. We hope you'll embrace the natural surroundings and enjoy the adventure.
Thank you for considering our cabin for your stay. We look forward to having you!

Why they chose this property
My family and I have been traveling to Kezar Lake region in Maine for over 25 years. During this time, we would often stop in Fryeburg for meals or cocktails and really enjoyed the area. When we saw this cabin up for sale, we immediately fell in love and felt at once inspired and relaxed!
What makes this property unique
We love that the cabin is off of a main road, so it's quiet and peaceful, yet close to everything Fryeburg and the surrounding area has to offer and only about 20 minutes to North Conway. But the real sell for us was all of the unique, artistic details from the barn wood details and 18th century wavy glass windows when you enter the home. There's an old farmhouse sink, a 1930's science lab table custom made with turtle shell feet, and an old phone booth turned into storage cabinet in the kitchen. Once upstairs, we saw the custom-built log loft bed and that was pretty much it for us! The family who lived there before us had children who added their own artistic touches, too. We have kept a lot of them (painting in the closet, for example) and our own kids are adding their touches as well. We hope you find as much relaxation and inspiration as we do.
