Outstanding-perfect for getting ready on Wedding Day
Excellent property and decor. Nice kitchen. Location convenient to the Cathedral. We stayed here the night prior to our daughter’s wedding. On Wedding Day, we had hair and makeup for 4. The photographer loved the mansion. Did not get to use the garden but it was beautiful. Crissy was the perfect host. Went above and beyond to respond to all last minute questions. I would stay here again.

This was Incredibly lovely home to stay in and our host was so lovely and accommodating and welcoming! We all had such a fun and easy experience in this home and I’m so happy we stayed there! Our host was such a joy to work with and couldn’t have been an easier process. Clean and professional and beautiful.
The house is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. I appreciated the blending of the classic Summit house and modern conveniences like opening the garage door from my phone.
Crissy was super helpful and very available for questions both before and during our stay.
We had an excellent stay and would highly recommend this property!

The service and communication was superb. I had a specialized reason to use a vrbo and she was all over it, Communication was on point and the neighborhood is a wonderful stretch of beautiful homes and fun shops and places to eat. It filled all my needs!
A slice of Americana. Located on the most beautiful avenue in America. Old style home, tastefully renovated for comfort, practicality and style. Classy! Convenient to airport and everything else in the Twin Cities.

I'm so glad you enjoyed our home. Please come back soon. It was my pleasure hosting you!!
We had a wonderful stay in this charming house on Summit Avenue. The house was very comfortable for our group of six. We enjoyed the beautiful furnishings, comfortable beds, and backyard patio and gardens. The owner was very responsive and quickly answered any questions we had. The location is superb. We especially enjoyed the proximity to the Mississippi River walking trail. I highly recommend this property.
We used to live on this street, and came back for a wedding. It felt like coming home. Very beautiful and comfortable. The owner lives at the property and vacates when it is rented. She treated us like personal guests and was very present for questions. This is a lovely historic home.

It was a pleasure hosting you and your family. Please come back anytime, and thank you for the kind review.
Very impressed with the overall quality of the home, loved the “old meets new” classy and stylish decor. Chrissy was extremely responsive and answered all my questions! Would totally come back, on a very beautiful street and close to the bike/run trail. St Paul is a cozy get-away vibe. You will love this place!
We were looking for a nice place for a four day stay over Thnksgiving and found this. Location is terrific in the middle of St Paul near the Freeway and a 13 minute drive to the airport. The house is even more lovely than the pictures with impeccable decor, lots of space to hang out, a modern kitchen with all of the amenities. The master bedroom is large with an en suite bathroom, and all of the rooms look nice. A 2 car garage, nice back yard in season, and easy parking. Communication with the owner was excellent. We are thinking about renting again in the spring. While not inexpensive, it still gives value considering the quality of the home, location, and easy to work with the owner. A+ in my book.

Your host,

I used to go to St Thomas and always dreamed of living in a house on Summit so to be able to come back with my two teens on a weekend in the twin cities and find 3 days in a house on Summit that almost instantly made me feel at home…was really special. The garage parking and back yard and entry to the house was so nice and easy to use. Then we got to experience the house which I found to be not just beautiful and amazing but clean and with details that show a cool vibe set in this stunning home. I can’t stop thinking about the front entryway floor of all things :) the front bathroom is gorgeous and I will literally go on forever about details of a home with history on an avenue with history and the care and love obviously put into it. I was supposed to be in London this week but couldn’t go because of fires at Heathrow and finding this house on Vrbo to stay in after deciding to take the kids to St. Paul to retain some fun on a disappointing spring break let down made me wonder if I had a better experience in a more beautiful place than London?? :)
What worked - the house is a lovely old mansion in a great area. The gathering areas were large and comfortable. The kitchen has very high-end appliances, although no microwave. This meant that snacking on left-overs from dinners out necessitated use of the oven or stove. There was a small counter-top oven.
What didn't work - the top-floor bedroom and bathroom were so cold that they were unusable, even after we asked the owner if we could turn the heat up. So that meant we really only had 2 showers for 6 people. While we understand that this is the owner's primary residence, there was so much of her personal stuff everywhere it was uncomfortable. The room that was an homage to her son's athletic career left no room to hang any of our things, or set a cup on the bedside tables. The refrigerator had her food in it with instructions not to eat it. It was just kind of weird. We are a respectful group, but we felt like we were intruding.
Overall, the owner was very nice and accommodating, but there is a big difference between letting people stay in your house, and renting it out as a VRBO.

Thank you for your stay. I am glad there were many things you enjoyed about your stay. Regarding your noted concerns, as you mentioned, this is my primary residence, and the home is as pictured/advertised. While you found it too personal, my other (over 100) 5-star reviews enjoy their stay in my house, which includes my belongings. It’s not weird; if you look at my listing, it’s clear that it is my primary home. I include racks for clothes and the heating and cooling works, but the house is 100 years old. I want to clarify a few issues. If you look back at our communication, I did not ask you not to eat anything in the refrigerator. It states in the “cabinets”.
Note: I keep food in one drawer, depending on the length of the stay. I will put everything in the downstairs fridge if it is longer than a week. I do have condiments in the door.
Every nightstand has a light, flowers, a little dish for jewelry, and a coaster for a water glass. This is for the convenience of my guests.
I want to share something dear to my heart. My passion for entertaining runs deep, and I strive to make every guest feel at home as if they're with friends or family.
Building meaningful connections with friends worldwide brings me immense joy, and I'm grateful for the excellent relationships I've developed. It warms my heart to see many returning guests who visit multiple times a year. My guest presence means the world to me!
I appreciate that you found me friendly and responsive. I wanted the opportunity to respond, given your low rating of the home, which is very atypical. P.S. Yes, I’m a proud mom, and that’s my child’s bedroom, per the site's picture.
Outstanding house; great location to the university, great space for a family and great host.

Why they chose this property
Amazing location! Enjoy a relaxing stay in this clean, cozy, historical Saint Paul home. Four bedrooms, four bathrooms. Located on Summit Avenue, which is known for being the longest avenue of Victorian homes in the country, having several historic houses, churches, synagogues, and schools. Just a few blocks from St. Thomas University and Macalester College. Park your car on the street or in the garage and head out to see all Saint Paul has to offer! Just a short walk to many shops, a movie theater, and restaurants, as well as the Mississippi River. Great walking/running trails along the river. In the summer, downtown Saint Paul has a great farmers' market on weekends. In town for a wedding? It's a great spot for a wedding party or small rehearsal dinner. In town for a college graduation? It's a great spot for a small gathering. (There is an extra fee for parties.) Our home sleeps 9 people comfortably. One bedroom has a king-size bed, and the other two have queen beds, one has a twin, and the last one has a full-size bed. Take a warm bath in the old-fashioned bathtub. Whip up some yummy meals in our fully stocked kitchen with stainless steel appliances & a Wolf gas range. The dining room seats 8. The living room has a big TV with cable and Netflix. We have on-site laundry—a lovely backyard with a table and chairs. There is a Weber grill in the backyard as well. You are less than 15 minutes from the airport and the Mall of America. Why not take in a Twins game or see the new Guthrie Theater, which is architecturally breathtaking. Maybe your goal is to see the place where Mary Tyler Moore threw her hat into the air. From here, your options are limitless. We hope that during your stay, you create many fun and precious memories, and that you'll revisit us year after year. Our home is clean, comfortable, and charming. We are close by and can be easily reached if you need anything else during your stay. We want your experience to be pleasant.
