About this property

Guesthouse in Young Redwood Forest

Authentic, rustic, architecturally re-imagined hippie cottage. Great spot for a creative project or just to relax and unwind. Guesthouse is ideal for 1 or 2 guests – some parents visiting with a child have found the space comfy for 3.

Point Arena is among the smallest incorporated cities in California and includes an historic lighthouse as well as more than 7 miles of coastal trail designated a National Monument. There is a noted French bakery in town, an historic Theater with first run film, as well as live and live-broadcast performances.

Relaxing getaway
We loved our stay in Point Arena! The property is very quiet and relaxing. The host shared very detailed driving instructions with us which made it easy to find, and also sent us recommendations about area. We felt especially welcomed by the pre-built ready-to-be-lit fire in the stove, which helped us start unwinding the instant we arrived. The kitchen is small but functional, and there were pantry essentials available.

About the host

Carolyn and I raised our two children on the property and live in the main house which sits, like the guesthouse, on its own private wooded acre. We're writers and educators and happy to share info on Point Arena and adjacent areas, including spectacular coastal trails and adventure sites.

Why they chose this property

The guesthouse is a great spot for an individual or couple to unplug (or plug back in) and for work in the awesome quiet of our forest surrounds. Terrific daily hikes abound on both easy (flat, coastal) trails and slightly more challenging (i.e. vertical) paths.

What makes this property unique

Particularly wonderful for creative projects and for re-charging batteries.
