Great accommodation. Access a little rough and ready. Bring your stuff in and enjoy a country get away. Fly fishermen need to check the stream maps and book here

We had a good time staying at the house. The description of the house was very accurate. The beds were comfortable. It was nice being in cooler weather. Not having internet was a little concerning at first but we adapted very well. We would love to visit the again.

Cute and rustic
Rented this home for two nights for a tweetsie railroad trip. It’s very cute and rustic! There were tons of toys for the kids to play with and the outdoor firepit area was a huge hit. The owner was always very quick to respond when I had questions. There was a little welcome basket and lots of extras that you don’t normally get at rental homes. It was also crawling baby friendly, all doors shut (even to the stairs) and there’s a gate on the front porch! Loved this. The only thing that folks may be not thrilled with; no internet and next to no cell service plus it’s waaay out there down a long gravel road, super far away from any grocery/gas stations. We enjoyed not being near anything, and only my 12yo was sad about the internet.

We are a blended family with 3 boys and 2 dogs. I am a “retired” ICU nurse-gone-middle and high school chorus teacher. My husband is a physician assistant and owner of a yacht charter company. We bought Granddaddy’s cabin to replicate my childhood vacations….minus the tent camping. I visited Grandfather Mountain every year for family vacations and am thrilled to be able to share this experience with my kids, and now with many others, thanks to popular rental sites. The area is magical and nostalgic…..come slow down and see for yourself :)

Why they chose this property

Granddaddy’s Cabin is a well-appointed mountain home with a spacious living area to gather with friends and family both inside and out. The property is 3.6 acres and backs up to the Pisgah National Forest, which provides a beautiful and private mountain experience.

What makes this property unique

Edgemont Road is a highly desirable area for mountain biking, hiking, and fishing. Wilson Creek, famous for its trout filled waters, can be found by hiking off the back of our property into the national forest. The trailhead for the historic Crump Trail, which leads to Wilson Creek, begins in our front yard. Our area is filled with waterfalls and streams that you can easily walk, hike, or drive to.

The spacious covered front porch has rocking chairs, a comfortable swing, and two hammock chairs to read or nap in. The back porch features a gas grill (propane provided) as well as a smoker/charcoal grill (wood and charcoal provided). The outdoor living area has a beautiful slate path that leads to eight Adirondack chairs and a stone fire pit. There is also a picnic table and Eno stand that holds three hammocks.
