About this property
Swans Island House - Downeast Oceanfront Escape
Newly updated waterfront home on the north side of Swan’s Island, just a 3-minute drive from the ferry. Watch lobster boats hauling traps from the wraparound deck and walk down to the private, rocky beach for sunsets over the water. The large yard is perfect for games and activities for the kids. One of the best spots on the north shore.
The well-stocked kitchen has everything you need, including lobster pots and tools. There’s plenty of room to eat in the adjacent dining area or at the picnic tables out on the deck. The living room looks out at amazing coastal views, and there’s also a game room/den with a foosball table and more to entertain the family. Plus, wifi and a smart TV keep you connected.
All 5 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor, with queen beds in the 2 oceanside rooms. A 3rd bedroom has a queen bed and a 4th has a bunk bed and a futon. The 5th room can be adjoined with the bunk room and has a double bed. There is also a spacious full bath with tub on the 2nd floor and bath with shower on the 1st floor.
Swan’s Island is 35 minutes from Bass Harbor, near Acadia National Park, via car ferry. You must arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes before the ferry leaves.
There’s lots to see and do without leaving the island.
Burnt Coat Harbor Lighthouse has gorgeous rocky cliff views.
Fine Sand Beach is a small sandy beach with crashing waves.
The quarry is a favorite freshwater swimming spot.
For those who want to explore Acadia and Bar Harbor, you can leave your car on the island and catch the Island Explorer from the ferry terminal at Bass Harbor. The Island Explorer is a free shuttle that stops at the sights around the park and runs during the summer.
TIMS, a tiny but packed market, and has all the necessities. Fresh fish and lobster is available there or at the Fisherman’s Co-op. Swans Island is dry, so you’ll need to bring any alcohol from the mainland.
Weekly bookings only from Saturday to Saturday.
