Fenced yard for littles & patio to relax. Park nearby w/ sledding in Winter and forest hiking in Summer. Across from Beer Garden & 2 doors down from Bullwhackers Bar. No immediate neighbors, making it a truly private family getaway in the Black Hills.
Property is completely renovated from it's original use as a historic barbershop. All updated amenities and top of the line appliances. The location is prime for travelers as it's on Whitewood Main Street, just a stone's throw from the popular local bar and beer garden. Nearby towns are easily accessible. Central to the Black Hills so it's a great spot to play tourist without having a long drive no matter which attractions you plan to explore.
I live in town and will be available should you have a question or request. This unit is self check in with keypad entry. Please notify me immediately if you need assistance checking in.
Downtown location with respectful neighbors across the street. No houses directly next to the property. Walking distance to the Historic Bullwhackers' Bar, local hair salon, and chiropractor on Main Street. Oak Park is just up the road and has play equipment for the kids and hiking trails for the whole family. Wonderful place to visit!
We welcome pets but we do ask that proper care is taken to avoid damages or excessive cleaning. The pet fee covers our cleaners for up to 1 extra hour of cleaning. Excessive pet hair, drool on furnishings, nose/paw prints on windows, muddy paw prints on floors, etc that takes over 1 hour may be charged after a clean is completed. If your pet favors sleeping on beds or couches, please throw a blanket or towel down to protect our furniture and prevent extra cleaning time. There are also extra towels in the master bedroom linen closet. We also have 2 blankets dedicated to pets in the entertainment center cubby (one has dog print and one is sage green). Just please don't use our crisp white towels to clean up after pets.

About the host
Hosted by Brandi Pickering

We are the Karlsons, consisting of Tammy and Rusty (owners) and me, Brandi. I am a local property manager with over 26 vacation rental properties. My pride and joy is, of course, the Historic Whitewood Rentals consisting of The 1888 Barbershop and The Jones Building across the street. Tammy and Rusty purchased the properties in 2021 and have been diligently bringing them back to life. Tammy and Rusty both work in real estate and have extensive experience in rentals. We love our town and we love being able to protect a piece of our town's history while offering thousands of travelers the experience of staying in a home that combines history and modern day comfort. Tammy and Rusty also happen to be my parents, so it's been a fun family journey that we have all enjoyed navigating. We love everything the Black Hills has to offer and spend most of our time fishing, hunting, and camping whenever possible.
Why they chose this property
We jumped on the chance to purchase the buildings because we knew we wanted to preserve these charming historic gems. The location and neighborhood just happened to be a bonus!
What makes this property unique
I think the layout and feel of the home really makes us stand out. It's hard to incorporate historic aspects with modern amenities, but the remodel ended up doing both a lot of justice. You get the best of both worlds here- a taste of history AND everyone's favorite modern day amenities and aesthetic.
