The location is amazing and situated in between Big Bend and the Davis Mountains. The grounds are taken care of and it is relatively private and quiet, there were some dogs barking and kids at the next door rental. The bed was decent and it had plenty of room for us and 2 kids. Also, the dark sky is delightful! The reason it doesn’t get 5 stars… The A/C and Heat was broken for the cabin and we were not told until we arrived and let the owner know. We were told it just broke with the previous renter, but if this was summer that would have been a huge issue. Luckily the temps were mild and we used the provided space heaters over night. This is well water and there is a very heavy metallic smell, I would not drink the water, even though they say it is filtered, just seems sketchy. Bring drinking water and be prepared to smell like a penny during your time there. There is an animal that comes underneath the cabin nightly and scratches, trying to get in. Sounds like a cat or rat, but it can keep you up for a while. It is very rural, so just keep that in mind. This is not a hotel… Overall, I recommend it, it was quaint and we had a great time. Just couldn’t give it 5 stars with the broken A/C and heat unit and lack of communication there.
