About this property
Langridge Lodge by RedAwning
_**Langridge Lodge, a clean and quiet corner of Alpine, with every charming
amenity within walking distance!**_
Langridge Lodge, Alpine, is a quiet, attractive studio with a queen size bed
and every convenience in the far blue mountains of West Texas, in the
beautiful little town of Alpine. These are the Davis Mountains, west of
Marathon's Glass Mountains, part of the great Rocky Mountain massif extending
west and north into New Mexico and Colorado. Langridge Lodge is located at
the junction of Highway 90 as you come in off Highway 67 from Interstate 10,
on the very corner Highway 118 heads down south to the Big Bend.
The fully-equipped shared kitchen is ready if you wish to cook on site, store
food /drinks in the refrigerator, help yourself to the Keurig (pods provided)
etc. We launder all linens, rugs, etc. in organic soap and air them outside
in the sun, and clean with organic citrus cleaner: we use no chemicals on the
property.
This time of year the big cottonwoods, elms, mesquites and pecans are leafing
out, butterflies are in abundance on early blossoms and honeybees,
hummingbirds and mockingbirds have returned - bright warm days, nights still
cool: perfect weather. We will have fresh apricots in May!
Langridge Lodge is about one hour from Big Bend National Park, and already on
the road (Hwy. 118). Parking is available right at the door; just turn right
off Avenue E and you are here.
Alpine's bookshop is within walking distance; just behind it on the same
street is Cedar Coffee, a good cup of hipster coffee (pods for the Keurig in
the kitchen are found in your room). Local artists (some nationally known)
exhibit in Alpine's galleries and unique locally-owned shops, most within
walking distance from each other and from the Blue Room.
An array of good restaurants and streetside venders offers a variety of fresh
interesting food in Alpine. Blue Water Natural Foods, just south of town on
Hwy. 118, is an organic-foods grocery; "Porters" is a well-supplied locally-
owned grocery store. Alpine has three or four charming historic venues for
cocktails and conversation, and our Museum of the Big Bend is a four-block
walk up the hill from our Lodge. Big Bend Saddlery makes real-life cowboy
gear which is shipped worldwide , as well as museum-quality custom leather
goods and clothing, including world-famous Spradley cowboy hats, still made
next door to the Saddlery on antique French machinery dating from the 1800's.
In Marfa (where you can see the historic Paisano Hotel (be sure to walk all
the way to the back so you can see the beautiful open-air sheltered pool), you
will see the restored Court House and a lot more; several other good
restaurants , bistros and coffee spots, a charming local museum, many
galleries. Fort Davis and Marathon are twenty-five scenic minutes away toward
the north and east. And the weather in the Park is perfect right now -
You may be interested to know that the proceeds from our studio help to
support an orphanage and school in Pakistan, where child victims of religious
violence find refuge, safety and schooling. Our contribution helps pay for
buildings, food and clothing, books and supplies, and medicines.
No pets.
