This was such a great place to just go and spend a few days, we didn’t need to leave for anything. With 9 of us, there was plenty of room to be together and also to get some space. Host was lovely and responsive. 11/10 experience and we will be booking again.
It was roomy enough for 2 families and kids to have a nice time. The kids loved having a deep end in the pool to jump into. The open concept was also nice so when cooking you can see everything.
Everything was fantastic. We had a great time. Lots of wildlife and a fantastic view. Plenty of room for a large family. There were 7 of us . Myself and my 6 kids aged 21, 11, 9, 7. 5, and 4.
We had so much fun here and the place was great! Exactly like the pictures. Communication was great with the host, and they do a good job keeping up with the place. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone!
Location was very nice. We arrived early were told there was work being done to the property however the neighbors said he left at 10, we arrived around 1230 nobody was there and we were denied early access. Both the property and pool were not clean. Because of construction we could not access the beach. The neighbors allowed us beach access.

For the price of this home, I expected a much higher standard. We enjoyed parts of our stay, but several issues made it hard to justify the cost. The house was not as clean as it should have been on arrival. We had to sweep food crumbs and dirt from the floors, wipe dust from the kitchen counters, and spray for ants throughout the house. One of the main reasons we booked was the listing’s description of steps leading down to the river. Unfortunately, those steps no longer existed, so there was no access to the water. Had we known that, it would have affected our decision. The biggest disappointment was the king bed in the primary bedroom. It appears to have no center support, causing the mattress to slope toward the middle. It was extremely uncomfortable and led to back pain and several sleepless nights. We were also surprised by the lack of basic supplies for a five-bedroom home at this price. Trash bags, paper towels, and laundry detergent ran out quickly, so we had to buy our own. The living room furniture was another drawback—it wasn’t very comfortable and didn’t provide enough seating for a larger group. On the positive side, the pool was clean and well maintained, the sauna was a nice amenity, and the game room was a favorite, especially the pool table. The layout also worked well, with bedrooms separated enough to provide a quiet place to sleep.Overall, the home has great potential, but the cleanliness and discomfort made it significantly overpriced.

Where should I start, I was greated with an overwhelmed person who said that the cleaners did not clean well but when I sent them back out she did not answer the door. I wish I could see all the potential issues but I rely a lot on the cleaners, maintenance, to know the issues. The previous renter ripped the sliding glass door screen and I sent maintenance out to fix it. Five bedrooms for under $500 with a pool and a pier I’m not sure if your were expecting the Ritz but I don’t think the Ritz would’ve made this renter happy. I get one every season with grandiose expectations in a rural river home. For those people I would say stay at the Ritz with concierge this is not the home for you. I do welcome all but hotels run $200-300 a night for one room. You have an entire home for $500/night. I apologize about the ants but directed you to the bug spray and we exterminate too. I will look into your other concerns and suggestions that you did not report to me until the review. thank you
Overall great experience. Owner very responsive to a few minor maintenance issues. The pool is awesome and where we spent most of our time. Paper blinds in most bedrooms make sleeping beyond sunrise a challenge. A second refrigerator was very helpful.
The size and spread of the property was excellent. The pool was much used and appreciated. The location was excellent. The only negatives that I could comment on was that the kitchen where seems not sufficient in quantity or quality for the occupancy level and price. I understand that dealing with people renting, you don’t necessarily want to give access to high end stuff. For an occupancy of 10, however, the single keurig, that took 3 to 4 minutes per cup to brew was insufficient. We made it work, though. It was a lovely stay, and we all had a good time. Would I do that again? In a heartbeat.

Thank you for your feedback it was greatly appreciated
Our stay at Squeaky Shores over the Fourth of July week was fantastic! This property was more than spacious enough for our group of ten, which included six adults and four children. With multiple separate areas to hang out, we never felt crowded. The kids loved cooling off in the pool, while the adults spent hours playing billiards in the game room. In the evenings, we all gathered in the open-concept living, kitchen, and dining area to watch TV, play games with the kids, and plan the next day's adventures. We appreciated how well-stocked the kitchen was with pots, pans, plates, and utensils. It was easy to make breakfast every morning, especially with the choice of both a Keurig K-cup machine and a regular drip coffee maker. The ample dining seating meant everyone could eat together comfortably.Checking in was a breeze, and we were grateful for the heads-up from the owners about the gravel road. It was definitely worth the trip off the beaten path! There's so much to see and do in the area, from amusement parks and historical sites to museums and the beach. While traffic was a bit heavy on the Williamsburg side of the York River, that was to be expected during a holiday week.Overall, we had a tremendous time and the property exceeded our expectations. We would absolutely stay here again if we return to the area.
The property was clean and tidy being the first to stay at this beautiful rancher. Fishing is very fun. There are crappies and croakers we found that night crawlers work best. G-town bait and tackle great place for bait cery big nightcrawlers! The fish bite as fast as the sinker goes down! Although there was inclimate weather for half of our trip the game room was awesome, filled with laughs and smiles. From playing pool and darts to a mini pacman game we had a blast. The movie room reclining chairs are also massage chairs definitely a bonus. The way the halls connected was really cool. The Sauna was sweet and relaxing. The house was definitely well stocked with all necessities needed. Owner is quick to respond with any questions or issues. Very peaceful if your looking to get away and escape reality. Thanks you for having our family it was a pleasure to be your guest!

Thank you for the kind review. We are glad you enjoyed the place and were able to fish too. Sounds like a blast.
We stayed at Squeaky Shores for 5 nights & it was a great place for 2 families (9 people aged 20+) to get away. The location is remote, but not secluded. Neighbors are close, but it’s quiet.
The pool was nice & clean. But we encountered several hornets in the pool area. We wanted more loungers; there were 2, + a hammock, & a few other seats. They don’t have pool floats or toys but was big enough for tubes and inflatable games. We wanted some lights in the pool for night swimming.
The view was great. No dock for this property, only stairs to a small strip of sand at low tide. A large eroded area had been shored up, but not fenced off, and could be dangerous for children. We wanted kayaks, paddle boards or some way to enjoy the river.
The house was clean & big. When we arrived the AC was set on 80+ & took a while to cool down. Seating in the living room wasn’t comfy. We wanted a larger table for meals. The kitchen had pans and dishes that met most of our needs. Some pans need to be replaced. The fridge ice maker was very slow & we had to get ice. There were A LOT of spiders inside the house. Needs fumigating. Pool table was nice but most of the cues were broken. Couldn’t play darts because all darts were broken.
It was close to stores & restaurants. Walmart, DoorDash, & Amazon deliver there.

The house was very clean and the location is absolutely beautiful. We were two families with 4 children between the ages of 2 and 16 with 4 adults. Plenty of sleeping room and privacy. We appreciated the size of the house, we never felt crowded and the kids could have some alone time when they needed it. The extra fridge came in very handy. The pool was perfect and was clutch as one of the days was in the high 90's. The house is secluded but had neighbors on both sides, who were very nice. The game room was a lot of fun and an added bonus was the host recently had a dock built. That was particularly nice as we did some fishing from it with the kids. The sunsets were some of the most beautiful we have seen. We also enjoyed the firepit and had a smores night. The kitchen was plenty big enough for all 4 adults to be in it together making meals. Its a short drive to grocery stores and the main street of the town. We visited Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens and Norfolk. The host was very responsive when we had any questions and made sure there were plenty of guidebooks for us to check out. We ended up going to breakfast at two great spots that we found while perusing them. Overall, I would highly recommend this rental. We had a fabulous family vacation and would definitely consider booking it again if we are in the area. Many wonderful memories were made on our trip. Thank you!!
