About this property

Prime location - Ranch House on Seneca Lake

Enjoy stunning views of the sunset from this beautiful one-story ranch - your home away from home on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Trail! Inside, an open floor plan and cathedral ceilings highlight the main kitchen-dining-living area, with beautiful views of Seneca Lake.

The kitchen is brand new, including granite solid surface counter tops and cabinets. Appliances include a stove/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and an over the stove microwave. There is a countertop for casual dining and a dining room table for more elaborate meals.

The bright and beautiful living room features cable/satellite television and a stereo system. The lake can be seen from all parts of the home, and French doors exit from the living room to the back deck. The deck is a beautiful place to sit and drink your morning coffee to watch the sunrise, cook the catch of the day on the gas grill or have a glass of wine while watching the sunset.

A grassy lawn between the deck and the lake is great place for the kids to play, or start a fire in the fire pit and roast marshmallows in the evening.

The master bedroom has a king size bed and a spectacular view of the lake through the French Doors by stepping out onto the deck. There are three additional rooms - two bedrooms on the first floor with queen sized beds and bedroom in the basement with a full sized bed (Please note that access to the basement bedroom requires a walk though third bedroom).

In addition there are two pull out sleeper sofas in the living room area.

Washer and dryer are also on the premises.

Family Makes Everything Better
Leading up to the visit we had great communication with the owners and all questions were answered timely which remained consistent throughout our visit. Since the parking area is rather tight they allowed us to keep the boat trailer and truck at a lot at their marina. Upon arrival at the house we noticed that the grass was really overgrown, understanding that it had rained a lot however you can tell that it had been not been cut in quite some time. We tried to enjoy the firepit out back as best we could but with the higher grass our ankles were being eaten alive. While we were there a yard service showed up to spray poison ivy that was climbing up and through the back deck. We questioned if he was there to cut the grass too but it wasn't the case. We put gloves on to help break down the areas that were visible to us after spraying. We didn't spend too much time near the deck in fear of the poison ivy. The main living area of the house was clean when we arrived however the bedrooms and bathrooms had cobwebs throughout. The house had a "musty" smell to which we purchased plugs ins to help with the odor. When we arrived at the house the garbage cans were full and to help clear it out from critters rummaging through we took it down to the marina versus waiting for someone to come and remove it. We had a pretty heavy rainfall one of the days while we were there and the French doors within the main area didn't have a tight seal at the bottom so rain came in.

Great location but cottage needs work
The upstairs bedrooms and bath were clean, but the basement bedroom and bath had standing water and mold. The owner did send someone right away to clean after I was able to reach him. They did not get all the water and surface mold removed which we did ourselves. More work is needed to remediate the mold issue. The outside area was not prepped for us at all. There is poison ivy throughout the property. It was climbing up the sides of the deck and onto the grill. We had to clean the deck, table, chairs, etc. in order to use it. Two people in our party got rashes from the ivy (one bad enough to require a doctor visit). Great location, lakefront and great dock.

Great stay on Seneca
Beautiful location on the lake, had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. Cleanliness you can expect from a cottage on a lake. There are going to be bugs but overall was nice and clean. Only problem was getting info for check in and check out, nothing listed on check in page from vrbo , had to contact owner which wasn’t replied to for 4 days who referred me to another person who deals with the rentals. Usually there is a binder or sheet with info about garbage, laundry, WiFi etc. Would recommend going forward. Found a piece of paper on refrigerator with WiFi password and left the house as we have for most other rentals. Overall had a great time though and house was as described. Would rent again.

Lake house
Great location! Lots of space. The dock and deck are awesome. It was a very relaxing weekend. The property definitely needs a lot of dusting as there are spider webs in most every corner. The kitchen and bathrooms were well cleaned. Overall a nice property for sure.

About the host

Host profile image
We are Donna and Bob Stivers and have been in the rental business for over 25 years, rented house boats for 15 years, and we have operated Stivers Seneca Marine for 20 years. We have lived on the lakes for our entire lives. Our knowledge and experience has created a sense of security for our customers while vacationing on Seneca Lake. We want to offer an experience, not just a place to stay.

Why they chose this property

We love the Finger Lakes, this is the area that we have lived and have done business for the past fifty years. This house is approximately 5 miles from our Marina, Stivers Seneca Marine. The proximity to our Marina makes it easy to welcome guests to our Lake House. After you are settled in you can venture to the Marina for a boat tour, a boat rental, a kayak rental or just a relaxing drink at the Tiki Bar North by the water.

What makes this property unique

This property offers a beautiful dock with a gazebo to watch the sunrise in the morning or to watch the sunset in the evening.
The house is situated nicely in the middle of the Finger Lakes Wine Trail.

You are only 10 minutes away from Lake Street Station Winery which has beer, wine and liquor that you can stock up for your stay.
The lake is right in the backyard to go swimming or to just float around.

If getting out on a boat is what you are interested in, come down and visit our marina. We have pontoon boats to rent by the half day or the full day.
