We enjoyed our stay there. It was clean, had everything we needed and was in a great location for us. Will stay there again when I come back in that area!
This was my first VRBO experience. The house was roomy and well styled. I felt very safe during my stay. The backyard was a lovely extension of the house. I highly recommend this property!
Don’t stay here. The house is right on a main road, and it feels like you are literally on the street. There are triple yellow lines and heavy traffic, so the noise is constant. On top of that, the AC makes a loud pounding noise every time it turns on and off, with vibration strong enough to wake you up in the middle of the night. The backyard looks much better in the pictures than it does in person. Between the chain-link fence, visible neighbors, and dirty patio, it was not a space we felt comfortable enjoying. The house was also not properly cleaned — there was dust, outdated furniture, and even clothing left in a drawer, which showed a lack of care and attention to detail. The bathroom felt unsafe because there was nothing to hold onto when getting out of the shower, and it was slippery. The property is listed as upscale, but it is absolutely not. Even the gravel driveway is difficult to access because of the heavy traffic on the road. Very disappointing stay.

We are sorry that you did not have an enjoyable stay. Guests overwhelmingly love our property as seen in the other reviews. We wish you would have raised concerns immediately at check-in as requested rather than waiting until after you checked out. However, we strongly feel that you were less than honest in your review and must address it.
The location of the house is completely transparent, as we have 'Exact Location' enabled in the property listing. We also describe it as being in the city and close to Wake Forest University. This makes the property more desirable for the family of students and alumni.
Neighborhoods have neighbors. Ours are quiet, polite, and like their privacy. The house has large trees and hedges on both sides that act as a buffer.
The backyard vegetation changes with the seasons, but it generally looks the same. You stayed during the very heavy tree pollen season that covers everything, including our lovely antique flower cart pictured.
I'm not sure what 'triple yellow lines' on the road means. It is just a dedicated turning lane that makes it much easier for residents to turn in and out of their driveways. This can be seen on the listing prior to booking by enabling street view.
I understand that the cleaners may have overlooked some dust and a clothing item in an attempt to accommodate your 11am check-in request, but they were still very thorough. However, your pictures were taken after your stay, and that hair came from your party. It was all over the sheets and bathroom as well.
Had a very nice stay. Quiet and comfortable house, well maintained and appointed. Close to WFU, grocery, etc. If staying w more than two folks be aware you’re sharing a full bath. Would stay again if we weren’t moving back to the area. :-)
This place was perfect for our family trip to Winston Salem. The house was in a great location close to Wake Forest University, shopping, restaurants, and Truist stadium (baseball). The hosts were very helpful and timely with responses to any of our questions. Would highly recommend this cottage for your stay in Winston Salem!
I feel the street address sign could be larger and more visible. The air machines in the house were loud. Something in the house really set off my allergies.
We stayed here while visiting family in the area. We chose it because it was pet friendly and the large fenced back yard was ideal for our dog.
I was really impressed with the thoughtfulness of our hosts. They provided so many conveniences not typical of most VRBO’s. The pictures accurately reflect the state of this home. It is very well maintained and it was a pleasure to stay here. We will definitely stay here again.
We were dropping our oldest son at Wake Forest University for his freshman year. The property was was perfect both for location and amenities. It served as the ideal launching point in the move in process as we are from California. It was clean, well kept and very comfortable. Could not have asked for a better accommodations.
Cottage was beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. The yard was enormous with ample seating to enjoy the great fall weather. We saw a white tail deer at the back of the yard, off property. Location was great. Close to most places that we needed to go. However, as much of WS, quiet streets are becoming more rare. If back to WS, we would stay again. Daughter graduates this year!
Really beautiful home, a lot of nice custom work that lends to good hosting and fun times. We enjoyed the backyard and the fire pit. To anyone bringing dogs, the yard is nice, but the neighbors dogs can reach through the fence and get to your dog, had a close call with my boy, so I just took him out on a leash whenever they were out. Great area and beautiful downtown, definitely go to penny path cafe! We will be back, everyone enjoyed the stay.
