Solo traveled during Christmas and this was perfect for the ocassion. I felt safe and secure. The property was well maintained and I would definitely be back to enjoy the rooftop views. The hosts were so communicative and made sure I was good the entire time.

The room was comfortable and well kept - I wish they had been transparent or more clear about the open layout in the description - there was no door between the sitting area and the "bedroom" otherewise it was a great stay.
This was the perfect place for us to stay while welcoming our son home from deployment and helping him set up his apartment nearby. The unit was clean and comfortable. The host was very accommodating and quick to respond to questions. It is walkable to restaurants and stores and generally a safe area. We would definitely stay here again.
Nice alternative to over priced hotels for attending a convention.

Amazing
The apartment was amazing and was located in a perfect area. Clean, smelled nice, the only and I mean only thing I could think to improve was the WiFi. But beyond that, it was a perfect stay.
This property was exactly what I was looking for, and the listing was extremely accurate. I was able to walk everywhere downtown - Petco Park, Balboa Park, ferry to Coronado, and lots of other neighborhoods. The unit was well-stocked with coffee and even snacks! The owners were also extremely responsive with any questions I had. Yes, a few previous reviews mentioned the homeless in the area, but that's just how downtown San Diego is. The balcony and rooftop were excellent spots to enjoy a beverage with the view of the city. Overall, a great stay and I look forward to doing it again!
The property was as advertised; communication and flexibility with owners were excellent and much appreciated. thank you

Overall property, exactly as listed however, the floors were super dirty, seem they sweep them with a broom, and not a wet mop. Carpet not vacuumed either. There were food crumbs on floors. Otherwise, all good. Neighborhood not fabulous with the homeless and your only view is smart and final. To be fair, that was pointed out in the listing, so no surprise. All in all really close to all points of interest so that was great. Hosts were fantastic.
The unit is nicely designed and decorated. Looks great to a camera or naked eye. In reality, it was not finished well. There are issues where when you open a kitchen cabinet, it rubs the ceiling and dust falls onto the counter/food. The walls are very scuffed and need to be cleaned. The floors were probably swept or vacuumed but not mopped so walking barefoot led to dirty feet. Many outlets and covers don’t line up so it’s hard to keep items plugged in. It really needs contractor finishing touches. It’s nice that it’s located near a grocery store. Nice view. Having laundry available is nice. There were snacks and coffee pods which was appreciated.

Parking was nightmare. When parking in back of building, the code access door did not work. Owners said, someone must have taken the tape off door to keep it unlocked. Therefore, building unsecure in a creepy neighborhood—especially at night. I had to park my car in back, and leave gate to walk all the way around to front of building.
On my first 24 hours, room was 80 degrees. Moved to new room and AC worked. No top sheet in second room. TVs did not work in either room. Cleanliness was good. Slider drapes did not close all the way, and balcony doors do not lock. Way too expensive for what it is.
Would not stay again.

The setting sun at 501
The setting sun at 501 raises the temperature of the flat. The missing/wonky vertical blinds don’t help keep it cool. You're told to turn the a/c off while you're gone. On our arrival, close to 11pm, the temp was 81. We complied with the request to turn the a/c off while we were gone. We could never get the temp to go below 76 overnight. Maybe the a/c units need maintenance. The one over the bed made a horrible clanky gurgling noise for up to 5 minutes at a time, every 30 minutes to an hour, all night, every night. When we couldn't take it anymore and complained, they told us how to drain it. I'm 6'1", standing on the bed, I could barely reach to take the cover off. I didn’t perform the maintenance. WiFi wasn’t working the first night there. We reached out and were told by the after hours AI that we should reboot our devices, then try rebooting the router. It worked the next morning. We found out via texts with the owners that the router isn’t even in the unit. The speed of the WiFi wasn’t great. The supplies were lacking. We had to buy toilet paper. They provided 1 full and 1 partial roll for 2 people for 5 days. There were also 3 less than half rolls of paper towels. The sheets barely fit on the bed. We kept having to get up and pull the bottom sheet back on the corner. The a/c issues is the worst thing about this place. The unit could use some basic maintenance. The best thing is that it was clean.
This was a perfect place for us to stay for our 17 days in San Diego. The location was great as our son and family live a short three block walk away. The building is secure so always felt safe and the unit was clean and as advertised. It was great having a grocery store right across the street. We were able to reserve a parking space in the building's lot which was a must for us. The rooftop deck is amazing with a great city view. We would definitely stay again on our next trip to San Diego if it's available and our family is still nearby. The only downsides at all were the homeless living on the sidewalks nearby (which was noted in the listing) and, in our case, the occupancy limit of 4 which meant our son and his family couldn't visit us at the same time. The hosts were easy to communicate with.
