We had a lovely stay at Pat's bach! Very cosy and warm in the winter, lots of entertainment options (and a fabulous CD collection), and close to Levin for supply runs. We even managed to go swimming!

We had an absolutely outstanding stay! The home was spotless, updated, and well-stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing week. The Tempur-Pedic bed was a big hit with my parents and now they want to get one for their home too. The fully equipped kitchen and thoughtful touches throughout truly made it feel like a home away from home. The host was responsive, friendly, and gave great instructions that made check-in a breeze. We especially appreciated the helpful notes placed throughout the home—they made everything so easy to find and use, and showed just how much care and attention went into making guests feel welcome.Everything was exactly as described—or better. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

About the host

Host profile image
Welcome to our VRBO listing! My name is Glenn Hamanaka. I am a proud Humboldt County native with an unwavering connection to this region that spans 46 years. Born and raised here, my roots extend deep into the heart of Humboldt, where I attended elementary school, high school, and even a bit of college.

In addition to my ties to the local educational institutions, my 35-year career in commercial painting has strengthened my relationship with this region. My company has helped shape the landscape of our community over the past three decades and allowed me to meet and collaborate with an array of wonderful people and businesses.

For the past seven years, I've expanded my community involvement by becoming a VRBO host, catering especially to professionals visiting our region. The joy of providing a comfortable and welcoming space for guests, a home away from home, has been deeply fulfilling.

My love for the local community extends to the realm of sports. I have been actively engaged with the baseball and softball community here, supporting youth sports all the way up to collegiate sports. This includes my donations to local institutions such as Humboldt State, St. Bernard's Academy, and Eureka High School.

On a more personal note, I am happily married and a proud father to three children. Two are going through college while our youngest navigates high school. When I'm not hosting, working, or spending quality time with my family, you might find me enjoying the incredible natural beauty of our region through ocean fishing—one of my cherished hobbies.

Being a VRBO host is more than a responsibility to me; it's a privilege. It enables me to share my love for this vibrant and unique community and the natural wonders surrounding us. My family and I look forward to welcoming you to our piece of paradise in Humboldt County.

Why they chose this property

Our family has owned this home for nearly three decades, with our children having the joy of growing up visiting this charming duplex throughout their lives. Nestled in a tranquil neighborhood, our property offers a unique blend of city convenience and serene comfort. One of the attributes I love most about our neighborhood is its peacefulness. Despite being right in the heart of the city, you'll find an air of calm that is incredibly comforting. Thanks to the home's excellent insulation, you can expect a quiet, restful retreat from your daily activities. The sense of community here is also very appealing. Our neighbors are respectful and friendly, contributing to the overall inviting atmosphere of the area. Walking around, you'll be greeted by the familiar sounds of the city, yet you'll also enjoy a sense of seclusion and privacy that is truly special. But perhaps the greatest joy comes from witnessing how this home and neighborhood have shaped our own family's experiences and memories. Every corner of our property is filled with cherished moments that have become lifelong memories for our children. We are thrilled to be able to share this home with you and hope it offers you the same warmth and happiness it has brought us over the years. Whether you're seeking a peaceful haven in the middle of the bustling city or a launching point to explore the vibrant life of Humboldt County, our VRBO home is the perfect place to make your unforgettable memories. We look forward to welcoming you.

What makes this property unique

Our property truly stands apart from the rest due to its contemporary design and recent renovation. This modern duplex has been thoughtfully updated with state-of-the-art appliances, offering you the perfect blend of style and functionality. While the exterior holds a classic charm that aligns beautifully with the neighborhood's character, the interior presents a sleek and fresh aesthetic tailored for the 21st-century traveler. Every renovation element was carefully chosen to create a comfortable, efficient, and luxurious living space. The kitchen has top-of-the-line appliances, ensuring that meal preparation is a joy rather than a chore. The spacious and open living areas are designed for relaxation and socializing, while the bedrooms offer a tranquil retreat at the end of the day. But the real charm of our property goes beyond its modern renovation. It lies in the harmonious blend of contemporary comforts within a home that holds nearly 30 years of memories for our family. This creates a unique ambiance of warmth and modernity that we believe will enhance your stay in Humboldt County. We have worked hard to create a space that stands out aesthetically and delivers comfort and functionality. We are confident that you will enjoy all the unique features our property offers and look forward to welcoming you soon!
