About this property
Historic Property, Beautiful Views of Lancaster County, Close to Everything!
Spacious Sisters House is perfect for families or girlfriends getaways. Amish buggies clip-clop past on the road, and chimes can be heard from a nearby church. This historic structure once housed a cigar factory - and the decor reflects those by-gone days. Modern amenities are included in DVD's, TVs with Roku and Netflix, WI-FI, Dream Machines, dishwasher, washer/dryer, central A/C. The upstairs bathroom includes a one-person Jacuzzi tub. There is easy access to the first floor queen bedroom and full bathroom with walk-in shower - great for folks that don't want to deal with stairs. Two more bedrooms are upstairs - one has a king bed and the other a queen. The sunroom overlooks the Weaverland Valley - some of the richest farmland in Lancaster County, The Sisters House sits on a dead-end road, adjacent to the flower gardens of The Artist's Inn. A short walk will take you to the town park that includes tennis courts, basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, picnic areas and plenty of space for kite-flying. Kitchen comes complete with your first breakfast and includes home-baked goodies from the inn and a full cookie jar. This vacation rental uses green energy - solar panels on the roof provide the electricity for the Sophie portion of this historic 200 year old structure. Enjoy the outside as well - there is plenty of room for gathering in the covered porch. You'll find lots of seating and a hammock. You are also welcome to use the adjoining firepit area that belongs to The Arti'st's Inn - our bed and breakfast. Terre Hill is surrounded by farms, so fresh produce is nearby. There's an organic cheese maker just down the street and Shady Maple's Farmers Market and Smorgasbord is just three miles away. The quaint little town of Adamstown is just a ten minute drive - known as The Antiques Capital of the USA. Bring your walking shoes and bicycles...there are nearby trails, hikes and our back roads invite you to explore on your own.

The host was quick to respond on all inquiries and very helpful in places to go close by to eat. The amenities were over the top. In many stays at vrbos none gave you food for breakfast & homemade cookies & pastry. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you needed to cook & bathrooms fully stocked with soap, shampoo & plenty of towels. Slept in king bed very comfortable.

Thanks John - we were so glad you were able to secure tickets to the Christmas show and that you enjoyed your visit. We've run the inn on the property for 29 years and so are licensed to provide food and treat the house with the same amenities as the inn. Thanks so much for visiting our little corner of Lancaster County.
The house was well furnished and a few extra touches of hospitality with breakfast options in the fridge and home baked goodies on hand. There was nice bedding and extras as well. It was close to shops, etc. The host responded quickly at 10 pm when we had a question. We would recommend this property as a comfortable accommodation.

Thank you! Glad we could accommodate everyone for the reunion and wedding. You packed a lot into a weekend!
I was disappointed that the couch & chairs in the living room were very uncomfortable. Beside that everything else was fine.

I'm so sorry to hear that. No one has voiced that complaint before - and we think they are comfortable. We will take another look (oh, I mean sit) and try them again. Sorry you didn't' like them.
Beautiful location and inn keepers Bruce and Jan are the best. They went out of their way to make sure our visit was spectacular. We definitely would recommend this place as an ideal vacation spot.

Thank you so much. It's great that you were all able to spend Mother's Day together. So glad you had a good visit.
The house was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. There was everything you would need to cook. They even left a cookie jar full of homemade cookies. Outside there was a beautiful patio that had chairs and a hammock that you can relax in. There was a n awesome area for the fire pit. The property was licated in a very quiet neighborhood.
We stayed at The Sisters House that was very nice. We were left with some delicious cookies and homemade bread. The house was very clean and comfortable. We will stay here again when we come back to this area.

About the host
Hosted by Jan Garrabrandt
Bruce is a colored-pencil artist and I'm an innkeeper. We left corporate jobs 22 years ago to open The Artist's Inn (a bed and breakfast), and never looked back. The Sisters House is located right next door to the inn and the gardens of both blend together. Yes, I admit I've never met a flower I didn't like and have planted oodles of them for you to enjoy. We are foodies and love to explore. We can offer great suggestions on local restaurants, fun things to do and places to see. You'll find a list of restaurant recommendations on our website. Don't worry - we're constantly updating it!
Why they chose this property
We purchased the Sisters House in 2007, reuniting the property with our inn - another dream come true. This is an undiscovered part of Lancaster County - ten minutes from the Antiques Capital of the USA. We're proud to be inspected, licensed, legal and insured.
What makes this property unique
Our quiet corner of Lancaster County is home to both Amish and old-order Mennonites, so buggies and bicycles are a common sight. There's a local produce auction not a mile from the Sisters House - you'll be able to observe (and even buy produce) farmers and nursery offerings. It's a gardener's paradise as there are 7 local greenhouses located within 5 miles of the inn. Fresh produce is available from nearby farm stands, including several organic farms and cheese producers. Because The Artist's Inn is a member of the local tourism community, we are able to offer discounts on theater tickets like Sight and Sound, American Music Theatre and Dutch Apple Dinner Theater. The city of Lancaster is only about 20 minutes away - a great place to explore art galleries, First Fridays, free concerts in the park in the summer, and restaurants galore.
