About this property

Homestead cabin with antique western charm

The Stagecoach Cabin (12' x 12') is nestled in the oak brush at the corner of our 42-acre property and was an original building from a stagecoach stop in western Colorado (hence the name). We invite you to relax and recharge in the off-grid antique and western charm of the late 1800s. The cabin accommodates up to 3 adults (or 2 adults and a couple of kids).

The Stagecoach Cabin offers a break from the modern world. The cabin does not have running water, electricity, wi-fi, or television. But it does have a propane heater, solar lights, and a solar-powered charging station for your electronics. The outside kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils and dishes, a propane stove top and mini fridge, and plenty of water in jugs. The outdoor bathroom facility includes a waterless toilet and a solar outdoor showering system. Best of all, the cabin site has lots of antique charm and mountain stillness.

Our property is about 7 miles south of Collbran, Colorado up a steep gravel road at the foot of Grand Mesa. The cabin site is conveniently located just off the road. It is private and quiet, but you will hear occasional road noise if the neighbors happen to drive by.

The Grand Mesa is a 15-minute drive away, or you can simply relax, play some horseshoes, and explore the trails on our property. Adjacent to the cabin site is a wild game ranch where you'll see buffalo, elk, and an assortment of other wild animals.

The cabin offers a queen-size bed, a twin air mattress (for use on the floor), and a small table and chairs. Under the covered porch, you'll find an outdoor kitchen and dining area and a chest of games. Between the cabin cabinets and the outdoor icebox, you'll find everything you need to cook a homemade meal (including a grill top for the stove). We also provide a propane fire pit on the south side of the cabin. A short walk away, on a well-lit path, is the outdoor bathroom facility.

Many guests get cell service and a data connection to receive a call or send a message (we get 5G on T-mobile), but, for the most part, modern technology won't distract you during this peaceful nature retreat.

If you are lucky, you’ll get to listen to the coyotes singing on the hills or the elk bugle across the draw. In the morning, watch for deer crossing on the hillside, or step across the road to view the elk and buffalo on the game ranch.

Please bring with you a pair of shower shoes if you'd like to try the outdoor shower. We do have mosquitos during the summer. We've provided some bug spray, but you might bring your own if you prefer a specific brand.

The basic cleaning fee is included in your rate. If excessive cleaning time is needed for dirty dishes, trash thrown outside, etc., $50 per hour will be charged.

During the summer, you can access the cabin site in a 2-wheel drive car, but the dirt road can be bumpy or muddy. We recommend driving a vehicle with 4-wheel drive in late fall to early spring as the weather can be unpredictable. If you aren't sure, please ask us about the current conditions of the road.
