Black Buzzard Ranch is located one mile from the quaint and charming town of Collbran, this beautifully finished luxury log cabin on a 9-acre ranch is the perfect getaway for any season. The property lies less than half an hour from Grand Mesa National Park, home of the world’s largest flattop mountain with over 300 lakes and countless trails for hiking, mountain biking, ATVing and snowmobiling. Enjoy shorter lift lines and lower rates at nearby Powderhorn Ski Resort (25 minutes away) during the winter, or go fishing, camping, or boating 12 miles away at Vega Lake State Park in the summer. The home is located 50 minutes from the Grand Junction Regional Airport.
There is room for 11 guests with two spacious bedrooms, a loft with log bunkbeds, a pullout sofa and two and a half bathrooms. The living room has two-story windows with incredible views of the Grand Mesa and a propane fireplace. The house is equipped with Wi-Fi and a smart television equipped with free Netflix and Hulu. There is an ample workspace in the living room for those who work remotely. In the summer, you can cookout on the grill. At night, the star gazing opportunities are unbelievable with the low light pollution of the Plateau Valley while you listen to the sounds of Buzzard Creek at the southern edge of the property. For hunters, the ranch is situated between BLM land, state, and national parks, and includes plenty of options for elk, moose, big cat, deer, turkey, or bear hunting.
The small town of Collbran has two distinct restaurants and a small grocery store. Business hours may be limited, but the home accommodates your meal planning needs with a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, and dinnerware for 24 – all you need to bring is food. In the winter, enjoy the luxury of radiant floor heating on every level. The house resides on a working ranch where we raise Highland cattle. Enjoy your morning coffee while watching the sunrise on the front porch from either the swing or one of the two log rockers. In the evening you can sip wine and watch the sunset on the cushioned lounge chairs on the back deck, which has park-like views of the pastures and the Grand Mesa in the background. Be sure to look out for the turkeys, deer, bald eagles, and blue herons that frequent the property. Occasional sightings also include black bear, coyotes, bobcats, and elk.
The home is family-friendly. It is equipped with a pack-n-play, booster seat, toys, and two retractable child gates on the main level, as well as outlet covers available. The gates to the main road can be closed while the kids romp and play on the lush, well-maintained lawn.
