Outstanding house on the lake!!!

This was a very enjoyable stay at a beautiful spacious house on the upper end of the lake. Great fishing area! Loved seeing the stars at night and the sunsets! These hosts know how to do it right!! Thank you!!!

Somewhat Disappointed

After paying for the property we learned that we’d have to take a mile and a half of dirt road to get there. It turned out to be badly pot-holed and rutted. On arrival (after dark), cypher locks on both the front and rear doors were inoperable. We called the rental agency and after a half-hour search found a lock-box with one set of keys. This was all we had for our stay; no one ever came to fix the locks. The property was not senior or handicap friendly: Stonework on the main entry was rough and a tripping hazard. The entry steps were slightly higher than normal and difficult to negotiate with a cane. Without a railing it won’t be long till someone falls and is seriously hurt. The interior was quite nice: Beautiful hardwood floors, crown molding in every room and a kitchen with decorative woodwork and breakfast bar. But outside the kitchen and living area, furnishings were sparse, and parts of the house were a work in progress (incomplete fireplaces in den and MBR). Also the back door stuck terribly, and its external handle did not work. All normal entry had to occur via the hazardous front steps and porch. There was television, but no Wi-Fi, hence no e-mail. From a binder found inside the house, we learned we also had to do extensive cleaning before leaving. For a couple of senior citizens this was both taxing and irksome, in light of the cleaning fee already itemized in our bill. I have mixed feelings about trying a vacation rental of this type again.

Couldn't ask for more!

Great location. Ramp and dock made boat launch simple. Pictures are accurate; very nice house and well stocked. This place will be on my short list for my yearly trips to Lake Murray!
